Thats because they don't do the types of video's that make good avatars anymore. In the early days they were desperate for any and all promo so they pulled all kinds of shenanigans to get their faces out there. Most of the video's you get now are from interviews which generally have poor lighting and make horrible avatars.
Plus they are simply less adorable now.
