If you’re going to make a Best Of list, the summer song of the year should be in there somewhere. This time, the phenomenal dance track of the year, Party Rock Anthem by electro hip-hop duo LMFAO, takes over that title. At first, I taught this song will be just like that. The beat will surely make you dance but after a couple of weeks where it is being played on the radios like non-stop, it finally became a huge success on the charts. Who haven’t heard this song everywhere, I’m sure at some point you were hypnotized to dance the Australian dance style, the Melbourne shuffle. Whenever you hear the line “Every day I'm shuffling”, you know that Party Rock Anthem is playing. The widespread success of the song and music video has further spread the popularity and adoption of the Melbourne Shuffle to a global audience. Party Rock Anthem truly made a huge impact on 2011; it spent 6 consecutive weeks at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and still gaining popularity due to digital download. I know some of you won’t agree that this doesn’t deserve the success it earned since there are more deserving infectious hits. However, it was LMFAO’s time to shine to deliver us one of the biggest hits of the year that will surely be remembered for the year 2011. Now the question is, will the duo can be as phenomenal as last year? We'll see in the coming months.

My 2011 list won’t be complete if the song of the year is not included. That’s right, Adele clearly owned the year 2011 from the albums charts and the singles charts. 21 is the best selling record for the year and you can find the best selling song of the year, Rolling In The Deep. I was so amazed by the performance of this song reaching the top spot everywhere. Adele finally got her success on the mainstream thanks to this lead single which talks about from a perspective of a scorned lover, who is finally able to see the light, but despite regretful sentiments, reconciliation is not an option here. The opening line “There's a fire starting in my heart. Reaching a fever pitch, and it's bring me out the dark” will really get your attention and it will instantly tell you Rolling In The Deep is now playing. The huge success of this single brought a number of covers which you can find in the internet. This is a proof that Adele has provided us what a song should be. With regards to the music video, Adele is on an abandoned house, where she is sitting in a chair singing all throughout. It is not your typical fancy and glamorous video like some of the videos out there nowadays; this is just plain simple but it got praised for the cinematography and concept of it. There is no denying at some point, you were singing to Rolling In The Deep. With Adele being on top of her game, she is bound to slay again this 2012. I won’t be surprised if she will be on the top 10 next year on my list.
