I don't understand transgenderism, but they don't need me to. They need me and everyone else to just accept not neccesarily understand. You won't truly understand a situation unless you're in it.

Now elaborate on "medical benifits"
No you're right, transgendered people should just expect you to remain ignorant about how they feel, because you don't have a responsibility as a citizen to educate yourself.
Its pretty sad how many gay people I know who look down upon transgendered people. I just got into an argument with someone who said that he hates them and that "they will never be real women no matter how hard they try".
I think transgendered people are just like any other sort of people, some good, some bad, but mostly just people. I don't care about gender, race, disability, sexual identity, or any other descriptor that only describes a small part of the whole puzzle that is other people. My operating philosophy is, treat me with respect, I'll do the same for you.
I also think it's hypocritical for some gay people to make fun of them and look down on them. They should know better since we have homophobics out here that look down on them. I don't know what the hell they are thinking.
I don't really have much to say about this. There's no real "stance" to take, other than accepting them as my equal peers. So of course I would not consider it a disorder in any way,
From what I understand of gender dysphoria, it is a disease that can be solved through sex reassignment surgery--unlike something like homosexuality. As far as members of the trans community go, I may not understand their plight as I myself do not experience gender dysphoria, but I empathize and support them 100%.
The ignorance surrounding transgenderism is staggering. Not shocking when it's coming from homophobes (obviously), but from people who claim to be tolerant and progressive, and even more shocking when it's from members of the gay community. What gives?
I'm pretty indifferent towards transgenderism. The bottom line for me is, you're either born male or female, and no amount of surgery or hormones can actually change that, but I'll give you the respect of being called what you want.
I find them weird, but meh to each his own. Especially those cheap looking one. If you're gonna be transgender atleast look cute and not busted, but I think it's a mess, but I don't judge.

You'd be shocked at how many gays are trans-phobic or just happily oblivious to trans-sexuality but then have the nerve to turn around and say that they should be accepted and understood..

I don't see how it's really shocking. People use the term "LGBT community" and clump them together, but they're actually two very different things.

Well they're two different communities in terms of psychological makeup and personal preference but both groups are of the same ilk when it comes to "different" sexual orientations.
And regardless of how different they are, that's no excuse for being ignorance about the opposite group.
