They're allowed to use the songs they came up with in the last 48 hours. I already told people they can start working on their ideas since the first round will be general
I don't care if people include pre-choruses or not, but I think that if contestants are allowed to have a pre-chorus, it should be noted in the challenge post so everyone knows. That's all.

YES! I wrote a killer chorus / bridge yesterday. but I don't want to use it for this competition, can i use it next round?
I'm not trying to be messy or a negative Nancy out of the gate, but I think when specific instructions are given they should be followed so it's fair for all contestants. Sometimes less is more, and shows you can make an impact on the reader with little body.
It's kind of effortless, I agree
Kidding aside, the instructions will get more strict and more specific as the game goes on. For now, we just need a short song. Noone will get extra points for their songs being longer or for including a pre-chorus, we'll just judge the quality of the short song that is submitted to us

ok, now this makes sense, I agree. It shouldn't really count for or against you

That's fine. It's your game so you make the rules. I just know that if I'm told I can write a verse and a chorus, I'll write a verse and a chorus. If I'm told that I can write a verse, pre-chorus and a chorus, I'll do just that.
Anyway it's late here (almost 2am) and I've got things to do in the morning and work in the afternoon. Hopefully I can get some inspiration! Best of luck to everyone, and have fun!

You're told to write a short song. It's just the first round, nobody will punish you for writing 2 extra lines or 2 lines less than the others
