"Heartbeat" is very much about her trying to find a connection.
Sorry to crash the Hard Candy circle jerk but you're projecting way more onto it than is actually there. Case and point being the bitch barely wrote those supposed "escapism" songs she just wanted to create some pseudo urban bops to balance out her actual personal songs like Miles Away (which she definitely wrote) and Devil Wouldn't Recognise You (which was like 5 years old at that point). The "concept" tying those songs together was an afterthought, judging from the fact that she wanted to call it BLACK MADONNA.

She doesn't have to write every song for it to be personal, just like how we listen to other people's music and form our own personal connections.
I got permission from a highly reputable Hard Candy aficionado to replace Spanish Lesson with Across the Sky, because I really have to get a LITTLE help here if I'm to like the album.

By the way, yesterday I got to Dance 2Night before getting distracted and changing the music Today I'm going for a full listen Plus I worked Animal and Ring My Bell into the album so it's 14 songs, 63 minutes.

You make it sound like I'm making you go to work barefoot or something like that
