I don't think Katy should work with Sarah like she worked with Bonnie, and I think she work with both, but sparingly. Hopefully she forges relationships with Tove Lo and Charli XCX. I also don't mind her Greg Wells tracks, I just wish he was a better producer. Stargate is always hit or miss. I hate her preachy/inspirational songs, and she always uses them for those.

Ugh. I hate Ryan Tedder. He's more samey than anyone mentioned in this thread. He's a one trick poney and his melodies are a snoozefest. It's her fault for releasing such crappy singles to pop for the last two or three albums. I only like her last two, really, but the obvious hits on 4 were "Countdown" (should've been first) and "I Care," whereas self-titled's biggest hits were "Drunk In Love" (would've gone #1 but for her having to release a subpar "pop" single to pop first) and "Jealous." Stuff like "Partition" and that one that starts with "Let me sit this ass on ya" were urban only hits, so they're kind of irrelevant to the discussion.

Anyway, no Ryan Tedder please. If she gets him, she'll either get something original and bland and he'll give the same song to someone else with a chord change who will release it before she can, or wait six months and release the exact same song with someone else or his own band.

I agree with the sentiment that she should have at least one solo written track. I really want to see how she's grown and evolved without the input of another amazing songwriter or producer.

The Truth. His music is good the first time you hear it but then it gets repetitive. Like Ella's Ghost for example. Even though I love it, it sounds like every RT track had a baby together. He even uses the same lyrics... I feel like he likes to talk about "rivers" and "ghosts" and his "spirit" etc.

Max is more one dimensional than Luke, though. I don't like his new writers. While none of them are bad, per se, "First Love," "Love Me Harder," and "Style" are all so sonically similar and cut from the same cloth. "Bang Bang" is just bad. I really think he's losing it...or maybe his co-writers are. He needs to change up his sound again. "This Is How We Do" was awful by his standards, while "Walking On Air" is obviously much more Klas Alhund than Max. As for the tracks Max and Luke did together on Prism, Luke said they were all him, but Max got production credit for producing the vocals (choosing reverb, delay, and helping with harmonies.)

Luke has obviously moved on to a new urban sound, so I don't know how much Katy will be working with him. One thing is for sure, though--no more Luke and Bonnie combinations: that's where the Teenage Dream retreads come to life.

Unpopular opinion, but I don't like Sia, either. Although "Double Rainbow" was definitely more Katy, her shtick is getting so old.

That was supposed to be for the Grammys, but she hasn't been invited to perform yet. The Super Bowl is all about putting on an entertaining show for 10-15 minutes. It's more about what's going on around the stage than the songs themselves, honestly. She's going to have a heavy backing track for sure, and I'd be surprised if she included a traditional ballad.

I would also love to see her work with someone like Alex Da Kid. He produced LTWYL, Bed of Lies, and Airplanes as well as basically the discographies of Imagine Dragons and Skylar Grey. He has heavy drum bears but his songs are always really powerful and introspective while staying radio friendly.
I'd also die if she wrote with Skylar. She always brings out the best lyrically in people but can write some pretty catchy hooks at the same time.

POM was a "quick lil #1" because it's trash. Had it been a good song it would've been huge.

The bright side on "no re-release" is that she sings her 'old' songs better. Also I'm all in for a BTGOG performance at the Grammys, a 1-2 punch (of great high-profile performances) would do wonders for her.
