Very true. I went through a phase in 2011-2012 when I stopped listening to pop completely and just listened to indie/rock/alternative, and I still listened to Katy that entire time (like she was the only pop artist I listened to). Her music is just good in a way that extends beyond genres. It sucks that the critics really are so biased against her. If Taylor had released PRISM I can guarantee it would've gotten an 80 on metacritic

I use most of Katy's singles and some of her album tracks as well. Is there any word on a 6th single for PRISM? I went to the Prismatic World Tour, and "Walking On Air" is perfectly suited to be an upbeat winter single that would lead into the Super Bowl, and Katy could perform some of the same stunts as she does in "Walking On Air" during the show. Her label and team would be really stupid to pass up the chance she has with it.

Yeah. She sounds great now...I guess the occasional pitchiness just comes from nervousness. GotSkill, I used to mostly listen to Indie music (in college it was all indie--indie rock, indie pop, indie hip-hop, folk, you name it), and even now, while I enjoy some pop again, I mostly listen to more rock-oriented material (or 90s R&B). Katy just does pop so well, though. When they're like "Oh, but those "ahs" in "Style" at the end are "EVERYTHING," I want to say "Yeah, and they're in every song on Prism, you just can't hear them."

Anyway, even though I'm not crazy on the production, "Chose Your Battles" is probably her best vocal, in my opinion. Sorry to get nasty, but it's like she's cooing in your ear, and it elicits a physical reaction every time. Like...I'm done...you're right. I won't fight. I won't PMS like a bitch. I'm yours. And yeah I still listen to about 50% alt/indie as you can see by my sig but I listen to a lot more pop since joining ATRL, and I'm in a hip hop/electronic phase right now. But after listening to those harmonies I had to go back and listen to PRISM again, and now I'm listening to OOTB because I just got hooked

That's because it was a pre-recorded (a new vocal track for performances) that was supposed to be lower in volume underneath her live vocal. Her mic wasn't on, but the sound guy didn't know. She always uses it on "Roar" because she does aerobics as the routine for some reason. It's not like she can't sing it live, though. As for the album track, the verse does have a lot of it (but not the chorus). The only tracks with really noticeable auto-tune on Prism are "Roar," "Walking On Air," "Love Me," and the awful backing vocals on "By The Grace of God."

The best thing you can do as a Super Bowl performer is commercialize off of the exposure, but PRISM's neither new enough to sell as much as it could had she done the 2014 Super Bowl nor so old that Katy could release a new album comfortably.

The latest we've heard is that she recorded a few songs recently (including Get On Your Knees) but that there isn't enough new material and Katy doesn't want to include Prism rejects, so there probably won't be. The rumors change in here every day though so who knows
