I kiiiiind of want them to debut with a guitar ballad a la Lonely, get a massive hit, and then bring the bops once they're established. Ik everyone but me likely hates that idea but it would work on so many levels - they'd prove they're "talented" to netizens ([+572, -68] daebak!!!! they're all visuals and they can sing. poor twice. YG jjang~) and it would catapult them to relevance so when they release something more substantial there's precedent for them doing well.
I just feel like flopping upon release, which they no doubt will if it's some amazing electro uptempo like ILY that Korea doesn't care about, would really not be a good look for them. I have a feeling YG wants them to come out strong straight out of the gate but that most likely won't happen in any scenario where they release something with a beat, since it's clearly not going to be GFriend-style (lord help us if it is) and that route hasn't been working for any other non-established gg.
