There's no way around this. Calling being gay a "lifestyle" is obviously far from the worst thing you can say about gay people, but it's still problematic and it's a line of thinking that is negatively affecting the gay community as a whole, no matter how much the people who say it insist that they still "like and respect gay people".

Because it's not something you agree with its literally a right. Like I said its no different than thinking women shouldn't have equal rights or African Americans right after they were given them, it was still okay to question it because they were just coming out of an era where they were treated as second class citizens

And right now we're coming out of an era where it was okay to think of LGBT people as others and second class citizens, it's "okay" to not be okay with their lifestyle, love, etc. 50 years from now nobody will think her statement is okay.

So since the world disagrees with us we should just put our heads down and grovel to people who aren't even accepting of us?

Bystanders don't make change, the people who stand up and fight for equality do. I have no use for silent bystanders in my life.

Once again, I choose my battles. If I had to stand up and fight for things this small every time something arose I'd never stop talking and never have a single friend. Accept you're lucky to live in a place where you don't have to worry about that. When someone does something to take away my rights or harm a gay person, I stand up and fight. When someone says they don't agree with gay marriage, I take a seat because I don't have enough time in my day to argue the hundreds of millions of people in this country alone that share that viewpoint

Biology states it's not directly caused by a gene anyways, it's heavily environmental and social. But, we won't get too into that.
