Them doing the 2 latter Steven Bombs (esp. when Steven Bomb #2 wasn't even an arc of any sort) kinda f'd up their scheduling, I'd assume.
Yeah, the more recent episodes haven't really been exploring the Crystal Gems too much, and we're probably in for more Peridot (they seem to be treating the cluster as an impending doom, so we might get a resolution soon). I feel like when the cluster is destroyed, we'll see some more signs of another conflict (either Malachite or Yellow Diamond), and then we'll get mostly a mix of lighthearted/plot-heavy episodes until the season finale.
Btw, Lauren Zuke and Hilary Florido (who both storyboarded "Catch and Release") are storyboarding "Too Far", and Lauren is hyping it up a lot omg.
