Her evolution from Music of the Sun to this in only four years just doesn't seem natural--it sounds like she missed a whole decade and several hard knocks in between. This album was written entirely by men--it just sounds like they're speaking vicariously through Rihanna...these words and these emotions don't at all seem authentic to her.

Oh well...the album's okay, but not worth owning.

As much as I love this album, I agree. It doesn't seem natural to go from that to this in a short period of time. But I guess she did go through a lot. But I don't know. :-/

You're missing my general point though. I'm aware Rihanna contributed to the songwriting on this album, but I'm skeptical how much of that credit belongs to her.

Anyways, a lot of the songs on here are hot, I was just making an observation that this album doesn't sound like a natural progression for her.

I retract my statement about the album not being worth owning; I was wrong. I was basing my statement more on songs like "Rockstar 101" and "Wait Your Turn," not necessarily the whole album.

Since much of this sounds nothing like her last album in which she did'nt write nor does it sound anything like the main writers previous works I would say she played a pretty significant role.
