Teenage Superstar - OUT NOW!
Earlier today, PRISM Records released a statement announcing, that Jessica Simpson, the famous singer-songwriter, has signed a brand new recording and publishing deal with their label.
After PRISM Records put out a press statement, they also immediately released a brand new single, called "Teenage Superstar", on digital channels (including iTunes, Amazon and Play Music). The 4:07 long track, produced by pop music titan,
Dr. Luke, sees Simpson opening up about the pressure she felt at a very young age in the entertainment industry. "I felt like I had it all, but inside I was dying, I felt like I was nothing. Basically, you can be a
teenage superstar, but at the same time, feel super suicidal," says Simpson, referencing to the song's lyrics. Simpson co-wrote "Teenage Superstar", a mid-tempo, folky pop/trap song, with
Sia Furler.
"It's a brand new sound I've tried. I am very much inspired by Lana del Rey, and some new trends in dance. We combined folky pop with trap, and I think the results speaks for itself." Simpson sounds smooth, at times a little smoky on the track. "It's definitely a risk we're taking her, but we hope it will eventually pay off," reads the PRISM Records' statement. Simpson adds: "I am coming for a Grammy with my album, and this single." For the video, Simpson is rumored to be working with
Jonas Åkerlund.
Jessica about her upcoming album: "This is just a little taste of what's coming. On my new album, I'll definitely be a little more personal. I'm more than just a popstar, I got kids now." It's been rumored that Jessica would very much like to work with her sister, Ashlee, for her new album. "I'd like to work with Ashlee at some point, yes. Nothing's in the works yet though, but who knows... we might get together soon."
"Teenage Superstar" is out now, more is to come in the following weeks.
