19. Ariel Pink - pom pom

This is the first Ariel Pink project I've heard in full, and I wish I had done so sooner. He basically took a bunch of Pop tropes from the last 70 or so years and subverts them, making them sound cartoonish, sarcastic, and even otherworldly at times. Lyrically, it's more or less to me a collection of insecure teenage boy thoughts. Probably parodies on them, but still. What I like most about these albums though, is that even with the satirical and parody-ish mood, the songs themselves still function as.... songs, because the melodies are so good!
