Why in the hell would you think J.Lo would be inspired by Nicki Minaj in the first place?
Jennifer Lopez is an ICON. She has been in the music game for 15 years, and has been admired by so many in the industry. She is in her own lane. Let get it together sis.
First of all, I said I didn't think she was inspired by Nicki.
Secondly, it is possible that she was inspired (the proper word would probably be influenced) by Nicki. Just because she has been around for awhile does not mean she is immune from wanting to keep up with the work of other people. Keep in mind that J.Lo is known for her butt, and Nicki released the biggest song about butts since Bootylicious, there is a way you could see how it's possible that J.Lo wanted to get in on the action, especially since her latest CD isn't really bringing in much attention. Granted, the song was made before anyone knew about Nicki doing this song, but since she added to that Nicki's #1 competitor to it and it's not so far fetched to think that she is positioning herself in in this way. As I said, I don't think it was Nicki who inspired her here.
And I don't think J.Lo is really in her own lane. There are few who are.
JLo recorded BOOTY before Nicki recorded her song. End of story.
JLo did 'I'm Glad" and 20 other music videos (that is similar to BOOTY before Nicki wasn't even famous.)
The comparisons may be uncalled for, but it's not like the Booty/Anaconda comparisons are unwarranted. The original Booty video (before the anaconda video) was MUCH different than what it is now (After anaconda video).

But it was just a teaser and when it was released, Jennifer said that 'the real' video will be completely different.

A pointless essay. Make up your mind sis. And "lol" at the irrelevant "Bootylicious" reference. A song nobody checks for anyway.
Yes, Jennifer Lopez is in a lane of her own. She has been admired by so many. She has influenced and inspired many through her artistry, distinctive fashion styles, music videos, dancing, films, and performances, and that includes Beyonce, Rihanna, Ciara, Britney, Mary J. Blige, etc. All who have spoke highly of her over the years.
She has been the only Latin international triple threat pop star to have successes in the Pop, Hip-Hop, R&B, Latin, & Dance genres all over the world, with phenomenal performing and dancing skills, and she still continues to do so today.
She is one of the first female entertainers, if not the first, to create her own successful empire. She is regarded as the most influential Hispanic performer in the United States, and has often been credited with breaking racial barriers in the entertainment industry.
I don't think Nicki was in her mind at all for this. We are her fans we would have an idea if it was, but it's obvious she did not. The comparison is ludicrous. Nicki's video looks amateur and ratchet. I'm pretty sure could have cared less if "Anaconda" reached #2 just as she did as she watched her lame performance at the VMAs. She's an ICON, she has already become very well established in this industry, something she has admitted when "AKA" was released and sales were discussed.
And Jen knows how to deliver a music video. She always gets major views for her videos even if they don't do well chart-wise. So I'm pretty sure she already knows the impact "Booty" will have especially with Iggy.

Have a good day sis.
My essay cannot have been so pointless if it merited an even longer one from you. Also my "essay" was two sentences sandwhich-ing a paragraph. Hardly an essay even by ATRL standards.
Given J.Lo's multiple business ventures, it is hard to find a popstar who has been successful in so many categories, but I thought we were talking about music, not overall brand. And musically she is not in a lane of her own. If that were the case, she would be either making unique music, or doing unique things with it. Adding Iggy and Pitbull to a remix about your butt is hardly that.
Whatever you think Anaconda is artistically does not take away from how big it has become. From the single cover to the video, it was a very hot topic. As I said (how many times do I have to say this) I don't think Nicki was her inspiration, but it's not so unfathomable that she is trying to keep up.
Lastly, what does insulting Bootylicious get you? ... Looking pressed and ridiculous because that song was massive and is still culturally relevant. It launched a catch phrase into the vernacular. Not many songs do that.
