Irrelevant. in this century alone, there are people like Britney or Gaga who become megastars overnight (from their debut eras became absolutely ubiquitous), and probably many MORE people who time has NOT been kind to in terms of starpower, like... Britney and Gaga (

), Christina, - we can name the "huge early peak, complete irrelevance in 30s" crowd all day if you like - Cyndi Lauper, Avril Lavigne, Janet who is unfortunately pretty much forgotten particularly by the younger generations after her media assassination in 2004, etc.
There is really no correlation between time in the industry and starpower at a given date. And if the Navy even has to resort to that attempt at a cop-out, that shows that ya'll are not nearly as confident in GLOBAL ICON(!!1)'s "superiority" as you like to pretend.

So basically, ya'll want to say Beyonce (Not DC, as the case may be) existed since 1997 (nevermind the fact that she only really became a household name outside of "the girl from Destin'y Child" circa 2001ish, when she began getting big endorsements and acting roles), and at the same time erase any of her work in that period... And like a good sis pointed out, songs like "Say My Name" which were 100% her vocals(as attested to by their label) don't count to #1s or sales, but songs by other artists where they played the hook girl do

Okay.
And another thing, ya'll wanna act like being in a successful girl group gave her some nagtural advantage going solo; let's not forget the droves of girl group girls who fell flat once they went on their own, such as Nicole Scherzinger(

) and Melody Thornton, the rest of the cast of DC other than Kelly to an extent, Terry Ellis of En Vogue (even when R&B was still smashing) and the other one, pretty much every R&B girl group from the 90s, etc.
