It's so weird how the Hot 100 is repeating it's self with different eras.

In the 90's everyone would keep waiting until they peaked on Airplay, then released a single Physically to jump #1. Then sales died, and the Hot 100 became Airplay centered.

Now with streaming everyone's waiting until their single gets big and releasing a music video for it to jump up the charts. Then soon enough sales will die again, and the Hot 100 will be Airplay/Streaming centered.

Yeah, basically airplay and streaming fuel what is called "longevity" on the chart. Blurred Lines sold like 60K (probably less) last week and it was still in the Top 10.

Hello again. Sales charts are not the most important music chart in the United States, the Billboard Hot 100 is. She has already outlived both of those songs in chart longevity so she is clearly experiencing a much bigger hit with "Applause". The Billboard Hot 100 chart measures the most popular song in the country so "Applause" was definitely a bigger hit than both of those songs, especially "Heart Attack".

HG is actually being lower on Streaming Songs than Applause for a few weeks already but it had way higher airplay. Now that HG is losing AI fast and Applause is still rising and in weekly sales HG just fell under Applause too, it has definitely a chance in overtaking it. Probably not this week but in my predictions they're already kinda close in points so next week could really happen.

i didn't realize that
does it mean that Applause has chance to go as high as #7 again if HG falls hard till wednesday?

I doubt Counting stars and Demons are overtaking it yet, at least not this week i guess

If HG suddenly starts free-falling (unprobable) and if the difference in Streaming between them is larger than expected this week, it may happen, but, as I told you, the probability is really really low.

And yes, Demons and Counting Stars should not be a problem for Applause and Holy Grail this week. Next one they'll be tho.

isnt the difference on nielson is much smaller than on mediabase?
I hope it goes up a bit so it can stay more weeks on top 10 and shut the haters up

Applause won't have had a lot of time to chart, so it probably won't be as high as Come & Get It. We Can't Stop will definitely be higher too. Heart Attack and The Way might be up for grabs though.
