It's not imaginary, just not relevant in asia. On the other hand you can't sit there and expect an entire hemisphere to understand the struggles of a race and all the things that are considered 'racist' The man already gave an apology, it's over with.
I don't have any swastika looking earrings, nor would I seriously insinuate that anyone/ particularly Jews, wouldn't have the right to be offended if I did, but there are plenty of comments on this thread insinuating just the opposite about blacks and things that resemble blackface on this very thread that haven't been warned. Hmm . . . I guess the Nicki gif and the excessive use of the word "like" didn't do a good enough job of implying sarcasm. I apologize if you were offended. Per your comment and another that insinuated that the analogy between blackface and anti-semitica are dissimilar, where do you think blackface came from? Do some research on minstrel shows and plantation skits. That caricature and minstrelsy in general are rooted in the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade, aka, the Black Holocaust. Middle Passage did kill millions of blacks, not including the ones who died after having survived the trip. Drawing parallels between the Black and Jewish holocausts is hardly novel; so you're wrong in insinuating that there are no similarities between the two. But that's really neither here nor there. I'm not here for oppression olympics (Oh which holocaust was worse?), both incidents were systemic atrocities.
Yes, being new to ATRL I did not pick up on your sarcasm and was assuming that your initial post was just ignorant blathering. Also you are the second person to draw the conclusion that my reply insinuated that I believe that blackface and the wearing of nazi paraphernalia are dissimilar when that is not the case. My comment was solely address my distaste for that analogy in the first place because I felt that there was no reason to be tit for tat in this situation.
