Isn't scoring #1s a form of a popularity contest as well? Billboard measures popularity, after all.

And it would depend on the artist. Mariah would probably say she's happier with her 18 #1s, but I doubt she would begrudge 18 Grammys. Aretha would probably say the same thing about her 18 Grammys, but would she not have bragging rights over 18 #1s?
