I like Pitbull and haven't said anything wrongful about him, so keep this in mind when I say this:
Pitbull is not saving Shakira's career in the US. His albums sell just about the same as hers, she sells as many albums in the US without any US hits attached to them as Pitbull can sell with hits on the album. Singles wise, it's not the wisest thing to collaborate with Pitbull and can kinda be an artistic suicide, as you really surrender to commercial appeal and repetitiveness. Yes, his singles sell really well, but Shakira can sell just as many singles with Pitbull's "help" now, as without it. She could collaborate with Rihanna, Jay-Z or a whole other artist. She is Shakira, and Pitbull was the one who was pulling for this collaboration to happen, as he stated with GMET.
Having said that, I too really enjoy this single, and it's not a crime for someone to admit that Shakira's participance saves the song and can potentially make it a hit, like Ne-Yo did for GMET.
