He added that while it is “really sad” for a woman to become pregnant after being raped, he claimed that “everything happens for a reason.

I hate statements like this. I'm sure Beyonce and Britney would get similar responses and there will be some people who defend them.

It was an interview, I doubt he had time to sit down and think through his answer. I'm sure he regrets it now anways

Britney and Beyonce would NOT get people saying they want to kill whoever it is, etc. And how many people are defending him? MANY more would be defending if it was someone else who said it.

This!
So people who are big public figures have to just keep quite then? Unless they are Lady Gaga (or co).
He has opinions and people should just respect it, even if it is different than what other people think. Can he not make his opinions known just because he has a massive stan base.

There are about five people, including yourself, defending him. Regardless, an ignorant comment is an ignorant comment, no matter if it's his or her opinion. Some people will agree; some won't. And Justin is not excluded because he's 16. He's old enough to know, and there are people in this thread who are his age and disagree with him.

Yeah it was ignorant, and i dont agree with anything he said but at the end of the day he wan't meaning to offend anyone, he was just sharing his opinion when asked about it (which he shouldn't have been asked about anyway, im like 90% sure the interviewer just wanted him to mess up), and people cant say he has a huge following because by the time they are old enough to act on beliefs like these, they will have their own opinion on the matter.
People can disagree with him but people here are over-reacting and acting as though he spat on their faces.

Honestly, I'm not even mad at Justin Bieber. There will be a ton of 16 year-olds here who say "well I'm not that dumb and I'm his age!" but that doesn't make it true for everyone. When I was 16, I was pro-life for no real reason other than because the Catholic Church told me to be. His mom is crazy religious and he's very sheltered, and his answers read as if he's regurgitating what others have told him, because it's painfully obvious that he actually has no idea what he's talking about. When asked about abortion, the fact that he says "that's like killing babies, right?" makes that clear. Keep in mind that he's also from Canada, where no true legal restrictions on abortion exist, so he has probably never had to think critically about the issue because the debate element simply isn't there like it is in the United States.
As for the response to the homosexuality question, I honestly think he thought he was being diplomatic, considering that he said "It doesn’t affect me and shouldn’t affect anyone else.” I don't think it's really clear that he literally meant being gay is a choice, as Jewfro noted on the first page.
I'm not necessarily excusing what he said, but in the end he is still an ignorant kid so I find it hard to hold these words against him. Really, when asked all of these questions, he (or his publicist) should've said "NO COMMENT" before spewing out nonsense. I hope any backlash he gets forces him to reexamine his words and form his own coherent opinions.
