Fleece-Char-Enth is the greatest 1-2-3 punch I've heard in a while. Probably my favorite songs on the album.
Ornament and the new mix of Frail come next
I still think that some songs are offensively bad. Char, Kept (Physical Edition Exclusive Bonus Track) and Frail (who would have thought) are the highlights
Also: I kinda had my excitement rekindled when I heard Char but I'm 5 songs in and this album is very obviously their worst.
Sadist, Enth and Fleece are all... not good.
Teach Her How To Hunt sounds like an ugly older sister of I Am Made Of Chalk.
Chloroform and Char are pretty good, the best on the album.
Even with the former, the weird synth break just... it doesn't sound as good as it could sound.
It's weird not wholeheartedly enjoying their music when I've loved it since 2008, but I digress.
Comparing I Am Made Of Quality to that garbage is just wrong
I mean, I still stand by it being better than (III), it just works better. I can see why (I) could be deemed better (it's a lot more dynamic) but I think they're basically even. It's not even remotely close to (II) but I wouldn't need/expect it to be.
I feel this is their worst album but I've really enjoyed Edith more than I thought I would and her interview was really lovely. I'm excited for them to continue releasing music together
I agree that this is probably their worst album, but even then I still enjoyed it which just goes to show how strong their back catalogue is. It sounds like a rushed, less mature (?) III almost.
Fleece, Kept, Char, & Sadist are my current favorites.
Their Kindness Is A Charade, Chloroform, Femen, & Frail can go.
why does everyone hate the last one? it's like one of my faves no lmao
It has the best atmosphere of all of their albums, but there's a lack of total standouts, and even my favourite songs have real problems (CIWHY has mixing problems on its high end, the melody of Sad Eyes barely works, Plague doesn't really go anywhere, Insulin is too short and not in a punchy Doe Deer way, etc).
(III) is easily their worst album in my opinion and there are many reasons to that. The only songs off of it which I can say I truly love are Plague, Sad Eyes & Mercenary, the latter being arguably my favorite Crystal Castles song. But all three still have flaws
Anyways, #JusticeForFemen (aka the best song on the album besides Kept)

(lll) is my personal favorite CC album because of how cohesive everything is. All the songs just work together. Agreed with the posters above that Amnesty is their worst record, but it's still okay.
It's definitely okay. But it's still the weakest. I do like Edith though. It's Ethan's productions that have become uninspired for a large part. III is a very strong record. Wrath Of God, Insulin and Kerosine are three examples of songs better than anything on this album.

I don't think it's Ethan's production, but the way they put this album together. The songs just aren't great

No its definitely his production/songwriting. He used to just bring me into the song against my will but this album doesn't have the same spark. III was a great album imo
