Christina has 5 #1's and she's the lead artist on only three of them:
Genie In A Bottle
What A Girl Wants
Lady Marmalade (with Pink, Lil' Kim and Mya)
Beautiful
Nobody Wants To Be Lonely (with Ricky Martin)

I don't lie. #1's on BB100, BB Dance, UWC, etc.

Seems like all the accomplishments of xtina were topped by a greater artist in her generation. I can't.

You (correctly) put the period inside the quote.

Having strength.
She was never afraid to express herself. She survived after 27 years of being one of the biggest stars in the planet.
Break tabues.
She breaked the rules of sexuality for women in music.
Fight against adversity.
She came from nothing... she arrived in NY with $35 dollars in her pocket and a dream.
Being a revolutionary.
The establishment (Vatican) went against her.
Influence generations.
Britney Spears, Lady GaGa, Christina Aguilera, etc etc etc.

And yet Brit wishes she had her voice, a legend would never say that about a so called lessor.

That's a lot of greats, and I don't think she's gone far enough given all that.
|
Maybe because she hasn't released as many albums as her peers, I don't know. I do feel like she has achieved many great things (damn, I'm using the word 'achieved' too f'cking much)
But as contrary to what many people here would love to happen, Christina's career is far from over. Who knows what could happen next, specially in this music industry.
I do think she's definitely on the right track.

We're talking the next generation of legends people!!! Artists that have slayed for DECADES, NOT people who are in now....I'm talking timeless.
Michael Jackson, Elvis, Madonna, Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Tina Turner, Prince, The Beatles, Earth Wind & Fire, Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin, Aerosmith!!!! Those are legends!!
Now, who applies today that has already reached legendary status - more than one decade of consistent success, and domination in areas outside of music:
Upcoming Legends: Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Jay-Z, Eminem, Usher
Those artists need no explanation or introduction. Whether it is successful music or business ventures - those artists above are trendsetters and innovators who lead in their respective fields. They bring ratings, achieve worldwide respect, and are the envy of those below them. All 5 of those artists are heading into their third decade in the music business and have shown ZERO signs of slowing down.
Notice how all 5 of those artists are relatively close as well.
Legends on the Bubble: Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, P!nk
Christina would have been on the legendary list but the jury is still out. Christina's last album completely bombed, and before that, she had vanished (not just from the music industry, but the headlines as well). Her amazing voice would typically put her in the legend category, but her failure to convincingly unseat Britney in the early 2000s coupled along with her measly 4 albums over the past 10 years isn't very legendary. Her business ventures aren't well documented either.
Justin and P!nk are self-explanatory.

A lot of the experimentation in hip-hop right now was influenced by Kanye. He shouldn't be underestimated.

Also these help...
Being the VOOG
46 mill albums sold
300+ BO grossed
5 Grammys won
Over 15 #1's WW
A #1, and 1 of the highest female tours of all time.

Xtina doesn't have 15 WW #1's.

Why are we even discussing this?
Okay, fine. I'm only allowed to consider Madonna, MJ, Whitney Houston, Barbara Streisand legends. Great. No one's disputing this.
Why aren't we discussing which top artists today will be relevant in 10 years? Whitney Houston has proven herself, sure, but is she still topping the charts? No.
Let's discuss why we know Beyonce will be considered a legend in the future, or why we're certain that someday people will look at Gaga on the same level as Madonna. This pointless bickering about "LOL RIHANNA HASN'T PROVEN HERSELF" is ridiculous... Why aren't we talking about what impact Rihanna will be having in ten years?

Newer acts who have came out as just vocalists like Jennifer Hudson, Leona Lewis etc.... I dont see any new vocalists coming out the cu saying Christina was a prime inspiration nor do i hear the influence. Thats just imo.

Well, I guess we haven't heard the same stuff then

How does any of this tie in with being legendary? Plenty of artists have managed to stay relevant after being in the industry for a substantial amount of time.
The same goes for fighting against adversity and influencing younger generations. Even some more recent acts have done that. You act as if it's only limited to Madonna.
What's odd is that you never seem to talk about any of those things. It's always about her sales and tours, but now these things matter in this thread.
