This extremely mediocre Aerosmith cover was an official Comic Relief single in 2007. The track entered at #1 in March of 2007, only to drop out of the top 10 two weeks later.
The premise of the video was a re-enactment of the Run-D.M.C video. Not a surprise no one really gave an actual ****.
An absolutely horrible song. No redeeming qualities. Glad most of you agreed. 0/10.
The last song leaving for tonight was produced by RedOne. Hence it features alot of dance-pop elements. It was 4.0 debut, and the first Sugasingle to not feature Keisha. (The version including her was sent to radios before she got kicked out. It should be easy to find.) Promotion for the song only started in November, because Amelle checked into rehab right after Keisha got kicked out, and the girls hadn't met Jade yet.
Nevertheless, the song received quite some promo, and a high-budget video. This video was shot one day after the announcement of Keisha's departure, somewhere near Los Angeles in the US. It's an action packed video, that should be mind-blowing, but actually manages to look like a music video to the soundtrack of some irrelevant, low-budget D-List movie.
Despite all the promo and the big video, the song only managed to peak at #8 in the UK singles chart, and it succesfully managed to make the brandname Sugababes even more of a joke.
First, I want to thank every single participant for getting all ''Sweet 7'' songs to leave before the top 20. Well done.
When I first heard this song, I felt relieved. Finally something rather decent by the Babes! But after Keisha's department from the group, I started to dislike the song more and more. I just cannot take Jade seriously. She is and never will be a Sugababe for me. 5,5/10.
And Girls.... it's catchy as f***. That part with "Here comes the girls" + the horns get stuck in my head so bad.
And the Superdrug commercial makes sure it lives on. (or is it Boots?)
I haven't listened to "About a Girl" in a number of months. I'm struck by how incredibly dated it sounds. These 08/09 RedOne productions, tunes that I once heralded as "cutting edge" and "decadently layered," have not worn particularly well. Tired and unbelievably cheap. Give The Fame a spin if you need convincing.
