I have no problem with anyone's religion, my problem is when one persons religion affects another persons life in a negative way. If it's a free world why are whole countries full of different denominations and religions having to follow laws that are sometimes based around certain people's religions...it doesn't seem right.

Yeah, Marriage is a Christian tradition but I see no reason why the law prohibits gay couples from legally having the same rights, it's discrimination of the highest sort. I'm proud to be from a Country that legalised Gay Marriage before a lot of others.

Not everything in the Old Testament is to be disregarded. Only some things.
Homosexuality is condemned in the New Testament as well.

I'm not sure if Jesus ever spoke about homosexuality, but I believe that God told man what to write in the Bible. God and Jesus (and the Holy Spirit) are one in the same - this is the concept of the Holy Trinity.

I agree with you on this issue...it will be tough for the little individual in school if kids found out he or she has two mothers or fathers

My Step-Father was raised by a Lesbian couple, he got it so hideously bad at school that it makes me almost against it. It isn't a gay couple's fault though, it is society's fault and it is incredibly unfair.

But the child's safety and happiness have to come first.

Until society learns to be open minded and tolerant, it isn't going to change.

Well God is far too complicated to even begin to interpret how he works. He denounces the Old Testament in the NT so obviously it is there for reference. I never quote anything from the OT because it is not meant to be practiced. It is there to show what Jesus had to endure and what he did before he was crucified on the cross for our sins. Then once he rose from the dead the NT begins which is the book that is supposed to be followed. That is why some bibles don't even include the OT because it is very controversial and not meant to be practiced.

Well the parts about homosexuality being an 'abomination' are in the OT. So why is that still being practised? Seems terribly hypocritical to me.

Religion is on the way out, our generation is significantly less religious than the generation before. Eventually these things will not be an issue. I think our generation has had enough of seeing some people suffer because of a book.

Yes, there is the issue of personal beliefs, of which I hold in high-esteem; however, in my humble opinion, marriage is only marriage, so I'm inclined to neither view.

My RK professor made a wise point in a past discussion of this topic: He thinks marriage should not be limited to one particular 'class of society' and that individuals should go through with what their hearts desire. He also believes, however, that same-sex couples should refrain from getting married in a church, traditionally, as marriage is a spiritual sacrament performed under God.

Homosexuality is also condemned in I Corinthians 6:9-10.
