Out of both releases that Red Velvet released this year, ICC is leagues better than The Forgettable, with this being the stand out. RV really know how to do a slick R&B number, and it's also very reminisicent of early 2000s K-Pop imo (I can see S.E.S doing this for example). I hope next year when The Velvet is released, it's full of jams like this.
I've already spoke about Thank Your Lucky Stars by them, so let me shed some light on Depression Cherry and their best song released this year. Like I said about how TYLS is very reminisicenct of Bloom, this statement also applies to this song and it also feels very Devotiony too. I just adore this instumental and Victoria's vocals are so dreamy. The guitars are also a nice touch, too.
I really didn't know of her until a friend of mine irl (the only guy I know who listens to K-Pop on a regular basis) brought Awoo to my attention. This Kimbra esque song really caught my attention and so did the catchy Love Game, so I decided to give her whole mini a try and I was so happily surprised and now I can say she's easily one of my favourite Korean soloists. Other highlights include the synthpop Upgrader and the Jonghyun penned No More, and another song I'll save for later.
Do I really need to write a paragraph about this? Literally everyone has this on their lists in some shape or another so I don't really need to speak much about how great this album is. This is eighties throwback pop done right (Taylor who?) and normal people and critics alike can see that. From the anthemic Run Away With Me to the Dev Hynes produced All That, this album really is full of gems.
Everything which can be said about Emotion, has already been said, but it's actually all true, an incredible pop album, and I love all the songs you chose, too!

It was honestly a bit tricky to pick them, there's so many good songs.
