Sure, she maintained success for quite a while.
I was only stating that she hasn't made much of an impact since then in the industry. She's been somewhat successful of course.

and every artist has its peak and then:
1. Fade away fast
2. Fade away slow
3. Get a show in Vegas
4. Maintain themselves in the industry no matter how big the flop.
5. Maintain themselves in the industry as long as possible even if the lows are more than the highs.
Britney is at #5. Mariah is #4. Celine is #3. Avril is #2. Ciara is #1.

I don't lose myself over a singer's success, so don't worry about that.
As for the rest of your comment, I didn't even bother...Have a nice day.

Britney: Did she even push 2m albums worldwide, she's FADING and only popular cos EVERYBODY USED TO know her and now she's a nostalgic act.
Beyonce: Fail to get a radio/digital hit pretty much anywhere in the world. She is a meek shadow of the phenomenon she was, just last era of hers.
Ke$ha: a few hit songs here and there ain't enough, she's nothing when it comes to touring, album sales, general recognition worldwide etc.
Nicki Minaj: LOCAL
On the other hand Pink continues to slay effortlessly on her break:
-A greatest hits collection selling out the competetion of studio albums (approximately 3m worldwide now)
-On the verge of going twenty something platinum with irrelevant releases like live DVD's etc. in Australia.
-One of the few who actually made an impact in Asia (along with Lady Gaga and Avril Lavigne)
-Presence in Middle East
-Decent recurrent airplay, catalog sales, digital power, tour hype and longevity

"...Right Now"
Some of these list are ****ing stupid, and someone "tried" to make a list based off of FACTS, but that list will only get you so far.
You also have to take into account social media, Twitter, Facebook, Gossip mags, Gossip TV, etc.

What's your source for "presence in the Middle East"? I'm not saying you're wrong; I'm just asking where you're getting this.

1. Lady Gaga + Adele
2. Rihanna
3. Justin Bieber
4. Britney Spears + Nicki Minaj
Katy Perry would fall somewhere below them, she's not that huge internationally.
Even with all of the selling success Gaga has had with BTW worldwide, that's not why I'd put her at #1. She has incredible name recognition because of her antics, and that's what puts her above the rest. Radio wise, it'd be Rihanna at #1 followed by Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga is #1 fact. Being the #1 popstar is not just about sales. It's about fanbase size, cultural influence, sales, impact, etc. and Gaga comes out on top. You can visit Forbes.com and Rollingstone.com for receipts.
How can any of you even deny that? lmaoooooooooooooooo
