I can't at you all acting like her career is over. Imagine how this thread would be if it had been made in 1993 when Madonna was flopping hard. You could list a thousand "mistakes" she made all through the 80s and early 90s that led to most of her singles underperforming at the time, but look how hard she came back. But more on topic, the Alejandro video was the first thing she ever released that I wasn't crazy about. Had it not been 10 minutes and completely monotonous, it would've been a lot cooler. The DWUW mess is pretty disappointing too as it would've likely been one of her biggest hits, but oh well. I really hope we get a perfect video for Gypsy that smoothly transitions the GP into the C2C era

I always find this interesting because I thought a lot of the Madonna stans (who drag Gaga for anything) would realise the exact same thing happened to Madonna after Erotica. Hopefully she can bounce back just as well!

Anyway, there were a few things that didn't sit well with me.

• Alejandro getting that weird satanism-meets-madonna video.
• Making the BTW era drag on forever with that horrid tour
• Acknowledging/reacting to the public criticism. All it did was make her look weak and they just targeted her more.
• Promote Online Kindness
• General overhyping and delivering underwhelming work
• Catering to fans
• Contradicting herself all the time

Taking forever to release ARTPOP and not making Gypsy the lead single.

Four things:

1. Pretentious attitude

2. Inability to surprise anyone anymore. People just got tired of her doing the same gimmicks

3. Too long break between BTW and Artpop. She lost momentum and released Artpop when the EDM wave died.

4. Being weird, awkward, dark, using relligion symbols all the time = turn off

I hate when people say ____ (Judas in this case) that's like when people said Super Bass was the start of Nicki's "downfall" as if the sing wasn't on the album long before it was chosen as a single

With that being said one song wasn't the cause of Gaga's "downfall" it was ARTPOP as a whole, she should seriously take a break after this tour and think about where to go next in her career because ARTPOP was not it

She's made many mistakes, but the trait that has hurt her the most was her inability to see things long term. She has too many little ideas that cloud the big picture of what she's trying to achieve and most of them never end up coming to fruition because she's so unfocused. She needs to stick to a set plan, single release, time constraint.. like the fact that she's 'Lady Gaga' really got to her head and it not only hindered when she did things but how effective they were as well.

If she TRULY does not care about success then I guess it suits her, but again how unfocused she is really sometimes deters from the quality of the material she releases / things she does IMO.

yes every artist can have some down falls but this early? I love how whenever gaga has an under performing album/video/whatever monsters bring up Erotica. But have any of you listened to Erotica? The music and the lyrics are some of the best she's ever made.

The album got a lot of love and praise. To most people it's in the top 3 of her best albums along with LAP and ROL. (or COADF)

It had a strong message. Some people didn't agree with the overall theme but she stuck by her views.

She actually gained a whole new audience.

and erotica is 10 years into her career.

for gaga it's already happening after her third album. madonna's third album was like a prayer 6 years into her career. her fourth "I'm breathless" (that's when Vogue and the Blond Ambition tour happened)

All gaga needs to do is learn to accept criticism & not take things so damn personally and make GOOD music. if she seriously thinks that the stuff on artpop is amazing or under rated high art like van gogh... well..

I think her downfall began with Alejandro and continued the whole BTW era. I think she could have easily make it up during the BTW era but her fate was sealed when she released BTW (single), which was overhyped, and then Judas and Marry The Night. She was focusing way too much on "art", it was rather annoying. ARTPOP era have / had the potential to save her and bring her back to the top but it is so messy.
