I mean I guess but I'd always mess up because calling someone they or them or xem or xer just doesn't feel natural. If they're fine with that then we good.

If they're SO fragile that they absolutely HAVE to be called by their neutral pronoun at all times or else they'll hate me... we're going to a damn therapist. I'd hope my kid would just be happy that I accept them for who they are, even if I use the wrong pronoun sometimes.

i know some of you are trolling and this thread was created to be a mess (thanks op!), but the amount of dismissiveness and outright hatefulness towards something you don't understand coming from gay men is depressing. the desperation of the marginalized to have someone else to s/hit on is just too sad, honestly.

and when/if most of yall will have kids (through adoption or surrogacy!), tons of people will think its quite "weird" that a single man or two men are raising a child.

I understand the idea of not identifying fully with either gender, since they are social constructs.

What I don't understand is what they have against he/she pronouns. You can present yourself however you want, why does being referred to by the only person pronouns in the english language lessen that? Why do you need a special pronoun to be yourself? It's completely fine to not consider yourself a man or a woman, but it's impossible to truly have everyone call you by gender neutral pronouns unless we start calling EVERYONE by newly created gender neutral pronouns.

Every stranger you encounter is not going to know your pronoun preference. It shouldn't be something that defines you so much.

I would struggle with referring to my children as "them". But, I would try to do it for them. If they picked another pronoun that's extremely out there, I would probably be less cooperative, if I'm being honest.

People will understand if strangers who don't know them call them whatever they want, but if their parents can call them by what they prefer, they will truly appreciate it. So totally untrue. I've seen so many articles about gender-queer people saying things like "I cannot believe this random person I met on the street used gender specific pronouns when addressing me! The microaggressions I face every day are so hard."

Also, anyone comparing the issue of gender identity to that of sexuality is clearly missing the point of the other side's argument. You aren't naturally born with an explicit part of your body that dictates what you're attracted to, but you are given genitals that do physically correspond to one of two sexes. They are completely separate issues, and I find it stupid that the acronym LGBT+ includes both gender and sexual identity since both groups experience such different problems.

I know everyone different. My question is, what's wrong with being called he or she? after all we're all biologically divided and you can't change the nature of that. (I'm not talking about gender roles).
