Billboard just published this to get those extra views like it's ridiculous at this point, it doesn't even make sense other than some pressed ATRL member being hired as intern
And neither did Beyonce
The way you people can be so deluded
Here, Aaliyah was rap singing before DC or Beyonce was, don't get ahead of yourself acting like rap singing was created by Bey
Except, "Are U That Somebody?" came out almost a year after this:
and it isn't even rap-singing, it's just singing over a hip-hop style production. There's a difference between singing over a hip-hop beat and rap-singing.

If you listen to the chorus and parts of the verses you will clearly hear that she is rap singing
And if you want to go back in time, then there's this:
2 yrs before No, No, No
The way you people are convinced Bey invented rap singing
And listen to parts of the verses and chorus before claiming she's just singing on a hip-hop beat
People are really out here acting like Beyoncé was the first female to sing over a hip hop beat when Mary J Blige exists. People also out here acting like Lauryn Hill wasn't rapping and singing before Bey.
The fact that you can claim there is rap-singing on No, No, No, Say My Name and Bills Bills Bills and Jumpin Jumpin then turn around and say that Are You That Somebody? has no rap-singing

But she is just singing over a hip-hop beat. Where's the rapping?
If you truly believe Aaliyah is singing in the same style as the rap-singing in songs like Bug a Boo and Say My Name you are more delusional than I had originally thought.
They think singing over a hip-hop beat is rap-singing
Say My Name & Bug a Boo aren't hip-hop beats and Beyoncé is rap-singing, her vocal style. You did not hear that style of singing before No,No, No Part 2.
“[Beyoncé’s] skittering, rhythmic, and hip-hop-derived approach to melody would help shift the entire landscape of R&B singing.” - Rolling Stone on 1999's The Writings On The Wall.
The end it's her blueprinT that others have followed.

They just don't get it, which is understandable for the two fanbases that keep trying it.
It's trap. Their songs are both influenced by that 2Chainz, Rae Sremmurd, Bobby Smurda etc sound. Did Beyonce dive into trap before ST? ( legit asking, I don't know)
i dont even think theyre talking about genres here. they said they imagined rihanna had flawless on rihpeat for some confidence which is still bull **** because part of the reason i love rihanna so much is the confidence she conveys through her music. beyonce comes off almost overly agressive/cocky whereas rihannas delivery is more natural and less try hard.
