Do you still live in 2008? Yes, she was signed with Akon and Cherrytree but not anymore. Her contract was renewed and everyone know that artists really see the money if they tour... and guess what Gaga has been doing the past 2 years?! Forbes will proof this.
Sure, show/link me/us the vid and we/I'll analyse what date it was she said that and how many times her contract has been renewed since that day. We know she makes headlines most of the times and there have been loadddds of times that she was broke because she revamped the MB from her own pocket.

Are those numbers real? I thought Carey was at 255M and Bey was past 200, like 225M? And isn't Carey white?

I cant at Mario having such a big radio hit
And no one is expecting gaga to get a +130 AI radio hit anytime soon unless she comes out with a killer power ballad.

Then how did Katy get 3 (CG, TD, Firework & soon-to-be E.T.?) #1's Radio AI?
Also, Eminem (who is white) spent 8 weeks at top. Ke$ha (who is also white) spent 7 weeks.

I mean...its not a negative thing. Its obvious that Ms Fenty gets her radio AI from appealing to more of an urban base then Lady Gaga and Katy Perry will ever do. You dont have to be black necessarily, as in Eminem case. But his whole schtick is that he appeals to the urban fanbase(which is why LTWYL was easily able to stay on top for 8 weeks).
BTW whoever said T.I. couldnt get a hit without Ms Fenty should look at Whatever You Like + Dead and Gone

Not every song Rihanna releases gets urban support. its very foolish for people to say this solely based on her skin color. You are placing her in a box where she doesnt fit in. Only Girl was never sent to urban and still managed to get over 130M AI on its own. And one could even say that black artists dont get played much on Hot AC/AC radio even if the single released is in that nature. Beyonce, Rihanna and Usher have always had difficulty on that format even if they release ballads but we wont go there today. The point is, let us just all stick to the topic of the thread without bridging into SYG territory.

Yet several "white" artists made it to #1 without Urban support. No excuses here.

Katy's is already explained. She has huge HAC/AC support, and great Rhythmic support. Gaga could only go as far as Top 15 on HAC, Top 30 on AC, and couldn't hit Top 5 on RHY.
LTWYL went #6 on Urban (thanks to Rihanna's ethnicity ), and was huge on Rhythmic. TiK ToK was also huge on Rhythmic and went #14 on HAC.

Then why is S&M being spun by Urban stations?

Getting to #1 is different from getting a huge AI, which is the point being discussed here. Heck, Paparazzi went #1 with like 98M AI or something.
