I don't think the Teen Pop acts(Bieber, 1D, The Wanted, and Carly Rae) will do much. I actually wouldn't be too shocked if none of them get nominated for anything, much less AOTY in Bieber's and 1D's cases.

I think they "love" Kelly like they "love" Mariah - they love her only when she's SUCCESSFUL and they have no other options. Mariah only won in 2005 because she was up against One Thing.

A great R&B vocal, but not what NARAS traditionally awards.

It depends on where she submits. Generally, Pop has been more friendly to Mariah than R&B. She has eight Pop Vocal Performance nominations to 3 R&B Vocal Performance nominations.

I would be happy for Miranda to finally get the AOTY nomination she so deserves, but would feel kinda bittersweet about it since it's her least-involved album yet.

I don't expect a nomination for Kelly in AOTY as much as I'd really love to see it.. but it's not that big of a stretch. Breakaway should have been the album to get nominated but Stronger is a very solid pop album that's sold pretty well in comparison to many other albums released in the eligibility period. It hasn't sold better than all it's competition, but it's probably the most solid Pop album if you combine critical & commercial success. The AOTY category has been seeing Pop nominations over the past few years (21, Teenage Dream, Loud ()) so I think it stands a chance but it's probably not likely.
