I thought all Albertans earn a buck load of salary every year? I was told that even the starting salary in Timmies is $12-13/hour.

It depends on where. If you live in the smaller cities, then yes you can make $12-$13 an hour at start. But in Calgary and Edmonton, its usually minimum wage (which is $9.80 now I think.)
If you work for the oil companies on the rigs you can also make a ****-ton of money too.

Oh my god, I was giving direction to my bestfriend to get to Twisted (The gay bar here) and he was wandering around downtown. And like, he didn't know what I was saying. And this guy came up to him and was like "are you okay" or that's what I heard and he asked him where the bar was, and he was like "oh I'll walk you there, it's not too far" and he said bye to me, and now I'm getting worried sick.
What if it was some random ass rapist! My friend is such a twink, he's like 5'4 and he's not answering my calls or texts iaouhgiasdygfafidyg

He's probably okay, perhaps it's not rape?

I had 0! I guess children don't go trick-or-treating in my building.
Or maybe there are none.

That is definitely worrisome, sis.
Have you contacted any of his other friends?
If you're super concerned and able, you should pop down to the bar yourself.

But why did he even say yes in the first place? I hope he's okay.

I sure hope he's okay, it was just so weird how he was approached, Like, who the hell just walks up to a random stranger and asks, "are you okay." It's not like my friend is dying, he's not even wearing a halloween costume!

I wish I could pop by the bar, but it's too far from where I live, and I have university tomorrow. But I'm going to talk to his boyfriend and see if he contacted him

I don't think it's weird that he was approached, especially if he looked as lost as you said he was.
But what's weird is that the person offered to walk him there.
Yes, do that. I hope he's okay.

Here's the catch. There's alot of homophobia and racism in rural Alberta too.

Twisted is on 11th and 10th downtown. It's not a bad area, and unless he was wandering around the eastside of downtown, he should be okay.

not quite, the starting wage for the bakers at an Edmonton Tim Hortons where a friend of mine just started working is $11.02, which is surely on par with the rest of the country.
while we're on the topic, where is the shittiest place that you guys have worked? my first job was at a Dairy Queen and I started at $6.75 (this was in 2006). for some reason, I stayed there for three-and-a-half years.

There are (or use to be) Tim Hortons that started at like $14/hour in rural areas. And smaller cities like Fort McMurrary or Grande Pairrie. I remember when I went to Grande Cache (a very small town kind of by Hinton) and alot of places there were hiring at like $15. (but that was back in 2005.)

wow, 15 bucks/hour is an insane amount for a job like that. the only other time I've heard of fast food places paying that much are in hospitals and such where the unions or whoever decide the wages.
