Not a "conspiracy theory" per se but I read rumors that Britney had another breakdown in 2010 but her team managed to keep it secret. That would definitely make sense considering her change in personality/looks from the Circus era to the FF era (aka upping her medication).
This is definitely believable, and its not anything far fetched either. Sometimes it takes a while to find the right dosage of meds for different mental disorders. And she definitely looked/seemed very different in the FF era compared to the Circus era.
