|
I've literally NEVER heard anyone say MR is her WBT and the fact that it sounds like a Carrie Underwood album track instead of an Uptown Funk sized song never led me to believe it would be some huge smasha. Let the girl have her indie era.

An indie era without the experimental music, quality, or acclaim
I guess bad music is the new excuse

So now we are comparing it to their Sorry and Uptown Funk. Cuz that makes sense.

Meanwhile Lemonade is sitting in the iTunes Top 20 and ANTI is at #66

Reading comprehension. She sought out those producers to replicate the success, but churned out generic and grating work like Perfect Illusion instead

What I'm saying is that, Bey isn't in the very same 'game' you mentioned. So how is she losing or getting beat if she's not playing? Like a user pointed out before, it comes across as if you guys are implying that she can only "beat Bey" this era bc she's "not trying to win"... which I doubt is the case in reality bc neither care as much as we do.

Tbh
How much longer are the navy going to run with this
Beyoncé is not on Spotify or Apple Music or even properly on VEVO (late uploads)
Tidal streams are not going to keep anyone afloat on any chart its just mathematically impossible
And not to mention a lot of ANTI's SPS and "chart longevity" comes from Work/Needed streams counting towards the Bb200

Welp. Forgot to mention that she also benefited from xmas/holiday sales in week 9 & 10. Every other week before that one she promoted her album like crazy.
|
And thanks to the promo Joanne sold MORE in first 11 weeks than ANTI.
Now imagine if Joanne had hit singles with feats like Drake. Wooo.

This doesn't really make sense. I don't think she would churn out Perfect Illusion if she wanted to replicate the success of Sorry and Uptown Funk without following the trends of music.
I would see her go down the Sia route. Like Dancin In Circles type of music. If she released that as a lead and her whole album sounded like that, I'd agree with you.

that one bey stan trying to discredit gaga because shes doing promo
bey announced her stuff right after superbowl, performed formation at superbowl and got media talk about it, used her marriage AND debuted lemonade right before the most watched tv show. guess she needed promo too?

This.
They always wanna bring up "a billion streams on Spotify" but fail to realize the album wasn't streamed a billion times. Work and Needed Me count for like 95% of times that album was streamed.

Really because she was targeting "the adult audience" that buys albums we were told?
And even more surprising is the lack of acclaim for the album if that was what she was going for (under 70 MC score, missing in most end year best lists) what exactly is the point, that she did poorly or at best mediocrely in all platforms (streaming, acclaim, single sales, streaming, overall records sold, awards etc) but we should all give her a break because that was what she was going for? Or that she had multiple discounts and performed on multiple platforms while going "indie" with her era? As though indie musicians are on Carpool Karaoke?

This whole thread is a headache. You guys are staying the same things and going in circles.
The matter of the fact is Anti is an underperformance, but still very successful. The stats prove it. Now can we move on .! It's 2017

Anti in Q1:
Week 1 - 124,000
Week 2 - 52,000
Week 3 - 34,000
Week 4 - 28,000
Week 5 - 23,000
Week 6 - 18,000
Week 7 - 17,000
Week 8 - 17,000
Week 9 - 15,000
Week 10 - 15,000
Week 11 - 12,000
Week 12 - 15,000
Week 13 - 15,000
Week 14 - 15,000
Week 15 - 13,000
Week 16 - 11,000
Week 17 - 12,000
It didn't go as low as 7k until week 24. No US promo in its first 4 months besides the BBMAs in May and it was never discounted. The fact that Anti sold more than Joanne in its 5th week and Joanne had Black Friday sales boost...

The monsters are pressed because all they want is for Gaga to be loved by the GP and straights. Gaga had the entire promo campaign, radio deal, worked with major producers, softened her image, ditched her pop idealism for indie cred.
Rihanna just released her album I can see why they're fuming.
