Well if one does something against the law and claims he had good intentions, then that notion would certainly apply.
The burqa is controversial garb, but the extent to which it is hateful is debatable, certainly coming from Lady Gaga. She is a devout Catholic and has eaten a rosary and has worn a cross over her crotch. But when she wears a dress derived from another culture with no religious correlation, it is deemed morally inexcusable.
