Gaga doesn't feed anything. She has not done a god damn thing for the gay community except get rich off us and make a portion of the general public think we're all a a bunch of tacky-dressed "little monsters." She's no more of a gay icon than the millions of other people who support gay rights - which yes, I do appreciate - but don't put her on a pedestal and act like we owe her a damn thing, because we don't.
That's the problem. You guys act like Gaga is the saving grace to the gay community and the reason why we are able to live and breathe each day.
|
Well, she helped get DADT repealed, and helped to get gay marriage legalized in New York.
If all she wants to do is get rich off of the gay community, why the **** did she end a deal with Target? (Because they had been donating to an anti-gay group).
She's always been about the message to be yourself, and always has been wanting equality for all. She has helped and still helps the gay community.
Now, please, do us a favor...
SIT.
Thank you.

So what should GaGa do about that again?
Should she have not raised public awareness and mobility of DADT and Marriage Equality?
Should she not have attended equality rallies, drawing more public attention to them?
Should she not have created a song promoting acceptance of different sexualities that spent six weeks at #1?
What the hell do you want from her exactly?

The biggest point of that man's rant was that, at the end of the day, Gaga is a straight white woman. Great, she loves her queens. Awesome. However, she's not one of us. Sorry, it's the harsh truth. I didn't believe the bisexuality "coming out" story when my own fave did it, I'm not gonna believe it when Gaga does it, either. She comes off phony to a lot of people, and some are offended when dumbasses like the ones in this thread claim she "feeds us". Gaga has impacted no aspect of my life except for a few slots on my iTunes. She is not owed anything, and there is nothing wrong with the gay community being critical of her. Obviously some of the things said strike some nerves with the Gaga stans for them to be all up in arms over one crowd's thoughts.
|
Which, as we established about 20 pages ago, is a silly point because that doesn't mean she can't fight for our rights. And Gaga has impacted your life besides those iTunes slots. The day that homosexuals gain equal rights and respects to all other people all over the world, she will have contributed to that, and however minimal her contribution was in the grand scheme of things it's still a hell of a lot bigger than that of a lot of other people

If anything, I would like someone to at least show they care about my community, especially if they're gonna use my community for financial gains.
What does speaking on immigration laws, injustices in other countries, racism, and even lending a helping hand to other countries when natural disasters take place have to do with gay people in general? Gaga aint trying to be a gay icon. She is looking out for everyone, nawt only homosexuals.
Antics like taking part in the equality march, were you there?
Antics like rallying up people to fight against DADT, did you?
Antics like making public speeches, have you?
Antics like flying over to to other countries and using your free time to help out struggling communities, have you?
The only antics are her ridiculous outfits and dramatics.

I don't want anything from her and I'm not going to go crazy saying that it's wrong or that she needs to change her ways because that is not my business and she may do as she pleases. But, I can see where this man's frustration vents from.

There's a difference between disliking someone and disrespecting someone.
Yes, you SHOULDN'T be attacking Lady GaGa's stance on gay rights because it has been largely progressive and helpful for the community. Until you can provide some evidence that there is a NEGATIVE part of Lady GaGa's LGBT activism besides "I DUN LIKE HER," you can sit down. You can dislike her all you want, but to disrespect her for what she's done for the gay community is ****ing ridiculous.

If the word "feeds" was replaced for "helps", would you agree with it?
Don't you think it's wrong to call her a bitch or a fake **** when she's actually helped us with some things like DADT and the NY Marriage stuff?

I said that I didn't care for you, not that you are uneducated or delusional. Two people don't have to get along in order to both be intelligent advocates with a head on their shoulders amongst the gay community.
I'd take a poster I find annoying over the highly delusional and short-sighted stans in this thread any day.

I thought I would agree with him, but in the end the things he mentioned just doesn't make sense.
FIRST OF ALL, when does ullying ONLY INCLUDE GAY PEOPLE? Last time I checked everyone that is considered "weird", "different", gay, immigrants and even handicapped get bullied. Acceptance songs like We R Who We R, Firework and even Born This Way isnt ONLY FOR THE GAY COMMUNITY... its for EVERYONE... Gays arent the ONLY ONE BULLIED YOU IDIOT... This is a perfect example of the gay community only thinking about themsleves
Secondly, Those songs are embraced by many gays and they ARE accepted by the gay community. I don't know what delusional tea he is drinking, but he needs to stop because I think he might get lost in his own world searching for the relevancy of Kelly Rowland compared to gaga, katy and Ke$ha...
A song doesn't need to be sung by a gay person to make it an be gay and happy song, not to mention a be yourself song in general. Don't act like these stars don't have gay friends that have seen the whole problem gays go through.
This guy is just a hater...

It is THAT simple.
Nobody is asking you to worship that bitch, but at least acknowledge the good she does for your community.

Some people were arguing against his belief that Gaga and gay should not be bunched together, though.

Gaga IS NOT the voice of the gays, the queen of the gays, the hand that feeds us, etc.
Gaga IS the most out-spoken prominent pop star when it comes to gay rights, and whether or not we want to feel grateful about that is our own damn decision.
Kelly Rowland IS NOT an icon.
Can we all agree on these things?

Dont hurt them too much now girl, you know the same ones preaching are the most hypocritical ones who do nothing for gays themselves. Which is why I didn't even waste my time quoting them to being with.
