40. Paramore - Ain't It Fun
I almost forgot to include this song, and then I saw it pop up on a Best Of list, and I was floored that I forgot to add it (I was only looking at 2014 songs on iTunes). Anyways, it lands here. It's just such a feel good song, although the meaning is slightly different than the sound gives away.
39. Hilary Duff - All About You
Miles better than Chasing the Sun, which shouldn't have been released first. I feel like this song would've had more momentum if released first, but whatever I guess . Anyways, this song is just a pure bop that is really enjoyable to listen to.
38. Meghan Trainor - All About That Bass
I heard this first on a radio station where they "play new music first" all the time. My ears were piqued, and I was trying to figure out the entire time who it was, but I couldn't figured it out. So, I looked it up, and I got hooked. It's incredibly catchy and fun to sing. However, I must admit that I thought that she would have a Carly Rae Jepsen trajectory, which was clearly wrong...
37. Ariana Grande - Break Free (feat. Zedd)
Ariana Grande completely outdid herself this year on the charts. I love EDM music, and this was a nice song with Ariana's vocals. The extended version is better, AND it's not annoying like Problem is at all. More Zedd and Ariana collaborations please .
36. Beyoncé - Drunk in Love (feat. Jay Z)
I didn't like this song when it first came out at all. Then, I got it, and it REALLY REALLY (not just really ) grew on me. It especially grew on me when I was drunk and not in love .
35. Ed Sheeran - Thinking Out Loud
Ed's best song on x, for sure. Maybe, it's his best song, but the jury is still out on that one (it's between Give Me Love and this song for me). Anyways, Thinking Out Loud is gorgeous, and Ed just kills it with his vocals. I'm really glad that it's doing well in the U.S. too!
34. Paloma Faith - Only Love Can Hurt Like This
This song . So emotional and powerful. Paloma usually never sings a song that she doesn't write, but she was given this song by Diane Warren, who wrote an amazing song for Paloma, who truly is amazing. I hope that she comes back to the U.S. to promote this song because it can be a hit for sure.
33. Coldplay - Magic
Such an amazing song! It's kinda mellow, but it packs a punch with the heartbreaking lyrics. I'm just glad that the lyrics have some semblance of hope in them.
32. Taylor Swift - Blank Space
This was the year of Taylor Swift. I've never been a major fan of her music. I've liked some of it, but didn't really get her albums at all. That changed this year with 1989, which was great. Blank Space is such a highlight in the album because it's so meta, and I like it when Taylor gives a big middle finger to all those people who make stuff about her. The music video is great too.
31. Kendrick Lamar - i
Kendrick . This song is my favorite of his because it's incredibly different from the rest of his material. Also, it's completely self-empowering, which is always fun when you need to pump yourself up. AND his flow is absolutely sick
