Will loses me on pointing out Rihanna's videos (girl on girl action) and lyrics as the reasons she's not a good role model particularly when he uses Gaga as a positive image. The irony in him declaring Rihanna's antics in videos are Madonna-like as if Gaga's aren't is off the chain, lol. Or is it that he wants Rihanna to actually have sex on stage or in video to prove she's a role model? IDK. And most of Gaga's songs don't have lyrics that much more profound than Rihanna or Katy's.
His comments sound uneducated (and potentially racist and sexist) or poorly edited when you look at it through the window it was provided in. If he said I don't think Rihanna is a good role model because she's singing a song with the man who bashed in her face about wanting to do him ... that I get. Or if he said I think Gaga is a good role model because she takes a public stand on acceptance ... that I get.

Well, I think society places too much pressure on recording artists to act as role models. In reality, Rihanna is no different from the everyday person. Ultimately, it's her career. She is promoting, selling records and performing to make a living just like everyone else on this planet. Just because she's in the public eye, that doesn't mean she has to censor herself. Is she the best person to look up to? Hell no. However, she never says to anyone "Hey girls of the world. Look at me. Do everything I do in my music videos and in my songs." Rihanna is just here. She isn't intending to influence anyone with a particular message. It's the individual's responsibility to choose as to what they wish to be exposed to.
