Madonna has sold 199-200 mil albums and about 300 mil records. What is this inflated mess?

Look it up here. I'm sorry but what is the point of having a receipts and sales thread if all you're going to do is quote straight up lies from sites like Independent.ie and Telegraph.co.uk? They don't even track sales to begin with.  Do the breakdowns yourself and you'll see that her total is around 199 mil at most.

Okay, I found a glitch. The original numbers I had in the OP added up to 219 million, not 239 million. I must have added a 20 million album twice, my bad. That's what I get for using my iPhone's calculator instead of Excel.
The estimations from the UKMIX guy provided by the pressed Gaga stan had some differences, some numbers were higher and some other were lower than mine and were not entirely accurate since he has Evita at 6.4 million when its certifications alone add up to 6.6 million. However, I've fixed my estimations and came up with 201.9 million albums sold, which seems pretty accurate and it's enough to keep both, stans and haters, happy I guess.

Céline has 121.9 million units certified, while Madonna has 168.5 million. As you can see by the receipts provided in the OP most of those certified units are from albums (143 million), so how exactly has Céline sold more, care to elaborate on that lie? Even though Céline has released 49 albums, 23 more than Madonna.
ANYWAY, the fumes from these Mariah Carey stans are understandable.

This could not be more wrong. Celine's raw sales numbers alone stand right around 180 million, she has definitely shipped more than Madonna and probably sold more too if we count every single one of her French albums

Certified units and estimated sales are two totally different things.
Those figures are based on official certifications in multiple markets by associations recognized by the IFPI. Madonna has WAY more units certified than Céline with albums alone (143 million), so obviously she has sold WAY more as well.
And you dare to talk about logic, these MC stans...

Yeah, I saw this yesterday and I was thinking you could shave a few million off here or there - like, 'Ray of Light' at 20 million.
On a side note, Celine Dion has not sold nearly as many albums as Madonna, STOP trying. And don't even attempt with Mariah, that woman's about 50 million behind.

It don't think it was necessary trimming so much for her 80s sales. Ofc the certified numbers are small, they're hardly updated (wasn't True Blue last updated in 1995? ) and a lot of countries are missing all together.
The Immaculate Collection is probably over 30 million, looking at this list, it has one of the highest certified numbers for albums in that range.
In comparison Music Box has 32 million in claimed sales but 3 million less in certified numbers. Not that it matters though, she's still like 50 million ahead even when using the Gaga stan's numbers.

Either way everyone knows that Wikipedia page is completely inaccurate, there are several millions missing for Mariah, Katy, Gaga, Beyonce and Britney and those are just the ones that I know of. I mean in the US Britney has sold 32 million albums and ~40 million singles, yet that page says she only has 43 million units total certified for the US....
I would trust the people at UKMix who spend half their lives creating sales estimations over that Wiki page which doesn't even include any Asian countries (other than Japan) where we know both Mariah and Celine outsold Madonna

Just a point of note - 'Evita' was indeed certified 5x Platinum in the US, however because it was a double album that actually stands for ~2.5 million sales.
