I mean I always thought the verses kind of set the ground work for the chorus, I've felt that the chorus should be catchy and simpler than the verses. I can think of very few songs where the chorus has the same kind of vocabulary as the verses. And yeah the first stanza of the chorus isn't literary genius, but the second stanza picks it up. I didn't think the chorus was incredibly hindering, but yes I will say it was simple, which again was the intention for me.
