Def Jam, Carey’s label, is now telling a different story. According to Laura Swanson, the label’s exec VP-media, the album will, in fact, be preceded by a traditional strategy leading up to a “late May” simultaneous digital/physical street date. “Mariah will announce the date and title in advance of the on-sale date,” she said, noting that the cover and confirmed tracklist will all be included.

So there we have it. We shouldn't expect it to just drop at any random time as we previously thought. Mariah will give us the title, tracklist and artwork before, and the digital and physical album will come out at the same time, and that will be in late May. So we ain't gettin **** for at least another 3 weeks.

I'm so glad the ATRL Lambily is so tame. I'm looking at another forum which I won't mention the name of *pushes hair back and looks up at the ceiling* and they are going insane because of this news. They are wishing ill on the album and whatnot, it's so weird. Do they even realize that this is Mariah's last album with Island and could be her last for a long time? She really wants this to be perfect for us, and I feel bad that she keeps getting berated. Honestly, we knew that there were going to be announcements beforehand- that was all laid out in that article posted a month ago. Billboard's entire article was a mess from beginning to end, they didn't care about that interview at all and handed it off to the most amateur person on the payroll.

I'm kinda placing the blame on Island here. I feel like they aren't on the same track with releasing as MC.

Even though I was all excited and hyped for this week or the next one I would be okay with a release at the end of May. All I want is a reliable statement of when exactly. I'm like, if you want to release it on May 27 then fine, do so but just freakin' tell us, and don't let your 'manager' spread 'news' like, the album could drop any minute.

If this is not going to be a surprise release then I don't understand why they are not giving us the f#%?ing release date. That is exactly what's so frustrating about it.

At this point, I don't even care if Mariah's new album sales is going to be. All I (we, duh) ever wanted is to have Mariah's new piece of artwork. I'm just contented that she will release the album anytime this May or late May perhaps. I looove me some Mariah. Whatever happens, happens.

N'Credible Entertainment, of course.

I don't really know enough about labels to specify one; I just want her to be somewhere comfortable. She doesn't need a label that's overbearing, she has JD to hold her down (lol). She just needs a label that will support her visions, as well as give her the proper time to prepare her work. No rush to get work down and no tunnel vision on what's proper. Also, and maybe most importantly, a label that will actually put her somewhere relatively high on the priority list. She may not be the most marketable artist right now, but she's a legend and deserves to be treated as such.

Honestly, I feel like they [JD] may have just gotten a bit too overexcited about the plan. He may have just meant for us to be keeping an eye out for when the release date drops, meaning that it could be any time and we'll only find out when MC tells us. Like- hyping an announcement of an announcement. (Gaga teas )

That's exactly what I've been saying this whole time! Once we actually get the album, it's gonna be like a thousand dollar Thanksgiving feast with enough leftovers to last us for years. It's gonna be so delicious. luckily we aren't talking about literally food rn or else it would have gone cold, gotten spoiled and started growing mold at this point
