Better now than later, right? I wanted to try to mitigate the possible meltdowns come next month if she doesn't surprise the fans by some miracle of god.
There is still the possibility of a new single since a song is mixed and mastered, but from my experience working with her label team, at the very least everyone would be in planning mode at this point if it were to come out in late January or early February. A video would be planned and shot, promo reps would be taking it to the big markets to gauge reactions, PDs would be informed, she would ask for a Grammys performance slot instead of waiting for one, and she would be giving obvious hints. That could all happen during her Xmas break, but it seems like bad timing for all involved.
