The liars meet Alison in a coffee shop (Noel led them there) where she recaps the whole night she went missing. In the flashbacks, her and Spencer argue outside and we find out she was on drugs even back then. Alison tries to hunt down -A (she even suspected the girls as she drugged their drinks), and just as she thinks she's found out who A is, this happens

ALISON (V.O.) I went home thinking I won. silenced “A.

Alison walks up to her house. She sees her mother in the window, looking out at her. Suddenly, a shocked look overcomes Jessica. Then WHAM! We hear the sound of a ROCK smack into Ali's head. Ali sees the rock hit the ground. Her blood drips alongside of it. Everything goes dark.

After that, there's another flashback,

A lifeless Alison lies in a shallow grave. Her face is starting to disappear under the dirt that is being shoveled on top of her. She groans quietly. Her eyes flicker open for just an instant. ALISON'S POV: The person who's burying her is her mother! BLACKOUT. END OF ACT FOUR

After Ali escaped from Mrs. Grunwald's car, Mona finds her wandering on the side of the road still injured. They explain how Mona tricked Alison by taking care of her, and eventually, helping her escape Rosewood. It all goes to an -A text she sent to Alison after she visited Jenna,

“I'm everywhere. And soon you'll be nowhere. - A”

Also ongoing during the episode, CeCe is interrogated for killing Wilden, and it's implied that her and Mrs. DiLaurentis have an alliance to frame Spencer for ''murdering'' Ali; and Melissa reveals to Peter she knows who killed the girl who's in Alison's grave (in typical PLL fashion we'll find out season 281). CeCe tells Holbrook she can prove that Alison's alive.

Back at the coffee shop, after Alison's spilled all her tea, they hear a noise and see a silhouette outside, who holds up a gun to shoot Alison. It's at this part where Noel's revealed as a member of the A-Team by stealing the girls' phones. Ezra randomly appears at the coffee shops' roof top where the liars fled and kicks Uber -A's ass and is shot in the stomach. The girls think this person who just tried killing Alison is Mrs DiLaurentis, but after jumping off the building and performing ninja theatrics, they're all convinced it's not her. Aria nurses Ezra blah blah blah

It cuts to the last scene of the episode,

A body being dragged across the yard. We finally see the person’s face. It’s JESSICA DILAURENTIS and SHE'S DEAD. BLACKOUT. END OF ACT SIX

END CREDITS over the dirt, shovel-full by shovel-full, until Mrs. DiLaurentis's face is covered. FADE TO BLACK. END OF EPISODE


TL;DR version:
Alison spills her tea to the girls at a coffee shop, reveals her mother is the only person who knows who killed her. She was the one that pushed Ian off the belltower. It's necessary character development. Bear in mind, most of her appearances S1-S4 are flashbacks of her at 14-15 years of age when she led a normal life. I'm sure there'll be shades of her bitchiness in S5~

Why is there so much hate for Emily/Shay

Her character is written as the most vulnerable , and given her character has probably been targeted the most , sure A tried to get Ashley done for lifer but she didn't have A car driven through her house , or home services trying to take her away.

Must say even though I Stan for Shay , Spencer is so damn close , she fills the good that Veronica Mars left in my life.

haven't seen nearly as much hate for Emily compared to Aria. Troian is clearly the best actor but she looks so old compared to the rest of the girls sometimes.

Shay started off a pretty bad actress in my opinion (probably lack of experience, wasn't she a model or something prior?) but she improved quite quickly and I think she's fine now.

Aria is rather annoying, you know exactly how the Spencer/Hanna/Emily conversation R.E ezra is going to go.

Anyway, I haven't posted here in a while but I probably will from now on. I feel like the show is being improvised week on week, whereas the first couple of seasons felt really planned out - I'm not sure what it is, but I still love the show.
