30 | RITA ORA
"How We Do (Party)" |
WRITE-UP:
First on my top 30 list is newcomer Rita Ora with her party anthem single for How we Do (Party). When this got released, I just simply ignore its presence thinking it could be another flop newcomer of the year. As days pass by, this song starts being played on the radios more often and there's no way for me to escape this tune. I eventually like it but got tired of it at some point. My interest went back with this song probably way back on August last year. At that point, How We Do (Party) just simply won't get out of my head and I realize it's one of the best songs by a newcomer for 2012. This song simply tells how to have a good time. Rita Ora sings in a carefree mood about party and bull-s*hit as you can hear it on the hook-up line. I consider this the party anthem of the year that's why it definitely deserves to have a high spot in my list.

2010: SHAKIRA "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)"

29 | JUSTIN BIEBER
"Boyfriend" |
WRITE-UP:
Earning another entry inside the top 30 is Justin Bieber. The swaggy lead single Boyfriend definitely is a big success and it sets the new era of his music as a grown up artist. Pulling away from that childlike voice with his previous records, Justin delivers this pop single with an R&B and hip hop flavor. At first, I did not appreciate the sound of this song. Time eventually is the reason why I find myself being mesmerized with this track. It had an impressive run in my countdown which peaked at #3. It would have been my #1 for like two weeks if not because of the two biggest hits of 2012 blocking it. Not bad enough for Boyfriend to settle for #29 in the list. Justin Bieber successfully evolved from a grown up artist. He has proven that he is really here to stay a little bit longer to prove his haters wrong. I just wonder what he will do next with his music career in his following records.
2009: GREEN DAY "21 Guns"
2010: ALICIA KEYS "Unthinkable (I'm Ready)"
2011: PITBULL F/ NE-YO, AFROJACK & NAYER "Give Me Everything"

28 | BRUNO MARS
"It Will Rain" |
WRITE-UP:
The Twilight Saga may have concluded last year but the soundtracks of Breaking Dawn - Part I still manage to capture my attention on the early part of 2012. One of those soundtracks is Bruno Mars with It Will Rain. I intended not to include this on my 2011 to have it on my list this year. After The Lazy Song, I have come to get tired of Bruno Mars music. When I Will Rain got released, I don't even care if it will do well or not. I feel like Bruno Mars is singing on the same tune with every song he released but that judgement changes after some time. I really could not ignore It Will Rain. Once again, the radio played another big part in helping me appreciate this song. With the success this song is attaining especially reaching as high as #3 on Hot 100, it should be enough reason for me to consider this a smash hit and Bruno Mars got this one on the bag. There is still one more soundtrack to Breaking Dawn - Part I on my list. It's no rocket science for anyone to not guess that song.
