I must have missed the hint that John is the 10CK? Is it simply him being invited?

I'm thinking something along these lines. I'm not sure why people say it's filler...John is an important character who discovered a lot, and Alex became a little monster this episode.

If John is the 10CK then how come he got that phone call from the guy? (in the premiere I mean, before he came to the hotel)

I want to be wrong, I don't want to be disappointed, he can't do Gaga like this, and the rest of this brilliant cast like he did with Freak Show. And I will say from the spoilers (that I didn't want to see) like Gaga being [spoiler[pregnant[/spoiler], and the possibilities of how the whole show could tie in, with the 10CK, Mr. March and how he ties in with Gaga's character, the rest of the season does look promising, and the preview for next week looks more exciting than 3 and 4's previews, so I still have hope.
2 > 1 > 3 > 4
Please Ryan pull your **** together, don't you dare serve me another Freak Show mess, 1 & 2 seemed so promising!
If this is the direction the show continues to go, well then Gaga please don't comeback because truthfully you are better than what Ryan is delivering no matter what you may believe, the writing has been cringe worthy the last two episodes.
I said I would drag this season, if it was like Freak Show, regardless of it having my fave in it. And it seems I'm gonna have to start dragging if Ryan doesn't pull his **** together.
I really don't understand why people praise Ryan's writing, like yes Asylum and Murder House were brilliantly done, Coven was ok, Freak Show was a mess, and Hotel shows promise, yes but still if you were to compare the writing to something of The Walking Dead, or other great TV Shows out nowadays, Ryan isn't the genius everybody believes he is, he probably blows so much smoke up each actors ass so that they feel important to his storytelling.

So annoying Save your drags for when the season ends. You're just ruining everyone else's experience by your pointless nagging, if you don't like it don't watch it. Clearly it's not THAT bad if you continue to watch it.
I never commented on Freakshow because I thought it was crap from way before the season started (i mean circus?... really... the cliche) and I skipped a few episodes but at least I kept my cool and decided to act a decent human being and not ruin everyone else's experience. If spoilers should be censored, so should these pointless nagging essays from the same bunch of people.

Guys... I just realized something.
If John really is the 10CK, and Alex is now a vampire... wouldn't that mean they are the same as The Countess and Mr. March?
Is that the plot? Are Alex and John going to become owners of the hotel in the end? Him replacing the serial killer, and her replacing the vampiress? Living there with Holden and those other little monsters, and that daughter they don't care about?

lol this episode slayed Idk why you didn't like it. The only thing I'd change is remove all of the irrelevant characters for Devil's Night (Countess, Alex, Holden, Scarlett) and made it all about the serial killers. I think this episode had two big hints about John being TCK. He was invited to have a dinner with greatest serial killers of all times and there was that line about Zodiac Killer giving himself his own nickname, iirc John also gave the nickname 10CK for this unknown killer, or at least find his reasoning.
I've been saying this for months but after seeing how great Lily was as Aileen Wuornos I need the second season of ACS to be about her. If Ryan doesn't make this happen he is the stupidest person on earth
Mare's back story was everything, this episode right there is her most possible Emmy submission so far, I really need a tie between her and Sarah Paulson to happen here. Both of them are amazing
Gaga in the very last scene was amazing though, I loved that she showed some emotion and I think Alex is related to her as Chloe said, and that's why she cried.

I would say Ghosts can't interact with vampires, but Donovan has interacted with Sarah after he turned. Unless she is a vampire too, but I'm not sure. It could explain something as to why Sarah and Gaga never interact.

The theories. She obviously means the man that turned her and is long gone.
The episode was good, but the worst of Hotel. (1 > 3 > 2 > 4)
The diner felt too jokish and like cheap satire.
Lily slayed. The Zodiac Killer was unnecessary.
The scene where Dahmer (who looked kinda cute, though ) drilled the guys head was so underwhelming. A similiar scene is in The Loved Ones and I couldn't even watch it because it was so suspensful.
The fact that the Countess turns other people into vampires too is so so bad.
The only really special thing about her is that she' a vampire and she's dishing the virus out to strangers, which takes the special thing of the virus away. Why would she offer Alex to be a vampire too? How would that reuinte her with her son? Also there is not ONE normal person anymore.
Also, a dad that answers a message is not neglecting his son.

I agree with Robbie that this episode was pretty filler. There wasn't really anything groundbreaking going on from the beginning, and while the Devil's Night scenes were interesting, they could have not been there and it wouldn't have made a difference to the story of the show.
Apart from Gaga and Chloë's scenes, this reminded me of the kind of thing you'd expect from a bonus scene or a web episode. Fairly uneventful and detached from the story of the show. Hopefully next week is a pick up, this is definitely my least favourite episode so far.

I loved the new episode.
It wasn't filler at all.
For example: if
John ends up being the 10CK
how was that episode filler in any way ? Seriously. And also this episode we saw a complete shift for Alex as a character.
i liked the episode tbh.
I think it was better than the last one.
And one thing I realized is that AHS is not the type of series I enjoy watching week by week I watched the other seasons at once and it's better like that, especially with such complex series as AHS. I will definitely be rewatching it next year.
Evan, Lily, Sarah, Gaga, Chloe and even Wes, all slayed me tbh. The one who slayed the most however was Mare Winningham

This episode felt like an interlude. Not bad but still ...
For me 3>1>4=2
Next week seems to slay!

In terms of plot, this episode was filler; nothing was really added to the narrative. However, in terms of character development, it was kinda necessary. They started to explore John's darker side and The Countess' more caring nature. It also made you question Sally a lot more - is she completely evil? I think without this episode, later things in the season wouldn't really make much sense or be as believable.

Wait, you found a great parallel sis, I didn't think of it like that This would be awesome tbh... but I am not sure that it will end like that, tho we will see.
And also we don't know if Gaga was a vampire at the time she was Mr March's wife.
And again them making us think that John is the 10CK with this episode (or if he actually is and that episode was the biggest clue) makes this episode really important to the overall plot. So it's not a filler.
And I completely agree with HEARTCORE, they did a lot for Alex and Wes storylines and showed a different/weird side of both The Countess and Sally.

I have a question. How would you explain horror as a genre, and more so American Horror Story to someone religious. Someone who comes from the standpoint, that this is of the devil because of its themes. I personally am a horror fan, and like the art of darkness, but how would you describe it to someone. Like them using killers in their show, may come off as glorifying what they did etc. I have a hard time explaining it, because I personally don't see it that way.
We enjoy thrills, their unfortunately is evil in this world etc, etc
How would you justify it I guess is what I'm asking.
