Wow, this is exactly how I feel about the song. The chorus and hook aren't memorable and almost nonexistent. It's just a how bunch of sounds and singing interspersed with edm breakdowns like dubstep.
But this is the sound SM's executive producers are going for now, I guess. Which sucks for the SM artists because every single one of their comebacks just sound like they belong on the same album and probably were created all at the same time for that purpose. I could hear "Why" being on Luna's mini album or Tiffany's mini album and to a much lesser extent Jonghyun's mini album.
I guess that's the failing of the K-idol industry when you have artists not having a huge part in the making of their own albums. It just ends up sounding the same because their music is literally manufactured by the same couple of producers (Brave Brothers, Shinsadong Tiger, LDN Noise).
I think KPOP needs to be more open to using new and more than one producers to make albums. I mean IU completely writes her own music, executes her own vision as executive producer, and makes fantastic/complete pieces of works, so it's definitely possible.
