Dance act Basshunter looks set to follow in the footsteps of fellow Swedes Abba and Ace Of Base by landing a UK number one single.
Early retail reports indicate Basshunter, who is Swedish musician and DJ Jonas Erik Altberg, is on course to move from a debut chart position of 14 last Sunday to head the chart this coming weekend with Now You’re Gone. The Hard2Beat/MoS release’s surge up the chart follows the physical debut yesterday of the single.
Following a week in which only two songs swapped positions in an otherwise static top seven, two other singles also look like moving into the Top 10 this Sunday: the RCA Label Group’s Britney Spears single Piece Of Me and Def Jam/Mercury’s Don’t Stop The Music by Rihanna. The tracks respectively stood at 19 and 18 in the new singles chart announced last Sunday.
Singles
01 Basshunter feat. DJ Metal Theos - Now You're Gone 7.3k (In other words, the english version of Boten Anna, blackbeatxx)
02 Leon Jackson - When You Believe 5.7k
03 SouljaBoy - Crank That 5.1k
05 Britney Spears - Piece Of Me 4.4k

(Get to #1, bitch! The "Blackout" album is currently at #42 on UK Midweeks, so it's rising hugely!) And her partner in crime Robyn is up to #15 with her self-titled album!

blackbeatxx must be over the moon. If Basshunter reaches #1, then he'll be the sixth Swedish act to reach #1 in the UK after ABBA, Ace Of Base, Rednex, Eric Prydz & Robyn to do so!
Either way, the english version of Boten Anna is awful but anything's better than Leon Jackson.
Piece Of Me still has time to atleast be top 3 in the UK by Sunday!
