33 | KELLY CLARKSON
"Dark Side" |
WRITE-UP:
The original American Idol makes her first appearance inside my top 50 list with Dark Side. This song is one of the standouts from her album Stronger and I am really satisfied that it got released. What I like most about this song is the music box background that you can hear at the beginning and at the ending part. Kelly Clarkson sings about acceptance, recovery and inner-beauty with this song. Even though this could be another potential smash hit, it failed to achieve a bigger success compared its predecessor Stronger, which is obviously one of the biggest hits of 2012. Nevertheless, I enjoyed listening to this song for a very long time. The melody is just sweet and simple at the same time which is really pleasant to my ears. Expect one more appearance from Kelly Clarkson near the end of my updates.

WRITE-UP:
One of the songs that I could say complements the last quarter of 2012 would probably be Die Young by Ke$ha. I wasn't really expecting anything from Ke$ha last year but it turned out I was impressed by the outcome of this lead single. You can call it generic like her previous releases but I was really into this song. Let's not go further with the current controversy this song is facing because it won't affect anything anyways here in my list. Ke$ha simply sings about living the day to the fullest like it's your last. She really delivers those irresistible lines plus the drum beats just makes this more interesting. As for the music video, Ke$ha plays the role of a cult leader. We also see some Illuminati references namely the Eye of Providence. If this song got released a bit earlier, this would probably be in my top 20. Good thing it peaked at #2 in my countdown despite struggling on reaching the top spot because of the song by Rihanna, which you will see a bit later.
2009: TAYLOR SWIFT "Fifteen"
2010: FAR EAST MOVEMENT F/ THE CATARACS & DEV "Like A G6"
2011: LADY GAGA "Judas"

31 | ONE DIRECTION
"Live While We're Young" |
WRITE-UP:
One Direction fans, rejoice as here they are once again, this time with the lead single from their latest album Take Me Home. Live While We're Young is just simply about having fun, just like what the theme of Ke$ha's song is about. When I first heard this, I simply like it even though it sounds so alike with their earlier hit What Makes You Beautiful. The music video simply explains the message of the song. We see Harry, Zayn, Liam, Niall and Louis all having fun in the camp site, plastic bubbles and playing football; and they eventually got all wet on the latter part of the video. I must say I prefer Zayn's hairstyle on their wet scene. Live While We're Young had an impressive run in my countdown but they only peaked at the runner-up spot for four weeks, being blocked by Maroon 5's One More Night. There are still a couple more songs from One Direction for you to see in my list. Stay tune for that.
