AKB48 is a theater group which would explain their ridiculous size.
Idols, in general, are like the Disney girls of Japan.
Beautiful, successful, you want to be them, but it doesn't matter because when they hit adulthood you'll toss them aside and find a younger, hipper, replacement who may or may not be better that the original.

J-R&B is mainly what I specialize in lol Here are a few...m-flo, Sugar Soul, Tsubaki, and early Crystal Kay





I have more if any of these aren't to your liking...I could keep going for awhile M-flo is probably exactly where you want to start though...they have so many featuring artists on their songs you're bound to find a singer you like through them...

Most of her songs are boring to me though, to be perfectly honest.

Oh yeah, I was just about to comment I didn't want to quote all those vids BUT I LIKE HER!!!!! Her music seems pretty different from a lot of Japanese music I've heard so far. I'm gonna do some downloading And I understand about DOUBLE. she's very R&B lol...It's weird cause in Western music, my favorite music is 90's R&B and all that catchy throwaway pop you shouldn't like but you do. I'm very much a Pop person But with J-Pop, I'm almost completely opposite. Like I knew Hikki from Kingdom Hearts and liked those songs, but it wasn't until the day I heard Automatic and Addicted To You that I REALLY got interested in Japanese music...
