I wouldn't call it horrendous, its definitely a bit different. Anyways I think covers are more interesting when an artist does something a bit different to it, instead of copying it straight up. Anyways for her age, this is pretty great

Phil Collins mentioned Adele in this interview...
Quote:
‘It was a strange thing. I met her in London, almost a year ago. And she had got in touch, saying, “I’d like to write with you…” And I said, “Yeah, OK.” I mean, I didn’t really know Adele. I do not keep up with what’s going on.’
Really? Collins might live half the time in mountain seclusion in Switzerland, and the rest of the time either in his fancy Manhattan apartment – his girlfriend is New York TV news anchor Dana Tyler – or in a Miami hotel near his youngest children.
But surely the rise of the woman who sold 30 million copies of 2011’s 19 couldn’t have escaped his notice?
‘I missed Adele,’ he admits with a rueful grin. ‘It was probably being… put away for drink, for a little while,’ he shrugs playfully. ‘I had a lost six months, I guess.’
Anyway, ‘Adele had got hold of me and wanted to write music with me. And I was in London, so she came to my hotel. We met for about an hour.
'And she played me a piece of music, and said: “What do you think?” I felt a bit on the spot and said: “I’ve got to listen to it a couple more times.”
'Actually I had listened to it a few times after she’d sent it to me, and it was great. Her idea was for me to finish it off. There were a few lyrics.
‘But I found her a little elusive. First of all, after we’d met, I didn’t hear from her for a little while.
'And I thought I’d failed the audition – which is fair enough. You need to see if you’re compatible.
'She’s young, I’m 63. It could have been that, and any one of another hundred things.
‘But she said: “Oh no, no, no, no, no, I love what you do, I really want to do it…” So I thought, “OK, well, she’s very keen, and she’s very sweet.”
'So I just did nothing else but think about this piece of music for a few weeks. But I didn’t really hear from her.
'I eventually emailed her back – I didn’t have a phone number – and I said: “Are you waiting for me, or am I waiting for you?” And she said: “Well, actually, I’m not writing at the moment – I’m moving house.” And she’d got the new baby. So that was the end of it.
‘And now I gather there’s 25 coming out, another album. So we never did anything. We didn’t fall out – we never fell in!’ he laughs.
‘But she was a very nice lady. And she’s certainly talented, and this piece of music, maybe I’ll hear it on the record. I’ve still got it and I don’t know if she’s used it. So it was a bit of a non-starter. Everybody got very excited about it, but…’
Collins shrugs. His business associates might have been thrilled at the prospect of their man getting back in the pop saddle – especially with an artist of Adele’s stature. But these days this father-of-five’s priorities very much lie at home.

They did work together, just on one song and it might not make the cut. I get the feeling she wasn't feeling the collab and is too nice to be upfront and honest about it.

I find it a bit confusing, so he completed the piece and then he doesn't know if it will be used?

I agree with you, Ichi, about how covers shouldn't be exact duplicates of the original, but I did not Aretha's version at all. My mom hates Aretha Franklin and I played it for her and she was like, "Turn this sh*t off! This is not Adele's version!"
Anyways... So, Phil and Adele did work together after he said they didn't? Ugh... Seriously? Anyways... Mess at that article referring to 21 as 19. But if she was seriously moving again and not writing, I will be livid because she moves ALL THE TIME. Can she please just keep one damn house and start writing?!? I mean... I adore her, but it seems like she moves an awful lot, doesn't it? Personally, I would hate that. I don't know how she does it.

She probably moved because she was having Peanut. She temporarily stopped music production to spend time with him. So it's all cool! Haha.

It's a huge honor for one of Adele's songs, especially one that's only four years old, to be featured on an album of "classics" by someone as legendary as Aretha Franklin, but regardless, this reason is horrible. Only Adele can sing this song and nail it. This song remains untouchable.

She probably moved again because she's pregnant and needs a bigger house. No promo or tour for 25.

Then again, it could have been a terrible excuse not to work with him again.

No 25 either Adele actually decided she likes the family life more and retired from her music career.

Adele did the same to William Orbit as well. This all makes it sound like she has no idea what the **** she's doing. That's why the album is still not finished.

Maybe she just wasn't satisfied with what she had and had the balls to say no

Aretha's version gets a no from me as well. The changes just make it like she doesn't know the song, and she can't hit the chorus at all :/ My favorite cover remains John Legend's, but nobody can touch Adele.
I think Adele's trying out new people and realizing some of them just don't mesh with her as well as people she's worked with previously, and trying houses because she wants to find one she likes best She could call the album "Great Changes"

William Orbit and Phil Collins are not huge losses though tbh.
She's following up one of the biggest albums of all time. It has to be up to par or else she'll just fall off like everyone else. I doubt she wants to be viewed as someone who never lived up to their hype.
If it wasn't working then it was best she didn't work with them. She could have handled it better but like I said, she's probably way too nice to tell them that.

I'm sorry but this doesn't sound like the Adele I fell in love with. If this is true, then it was really crappy of her not to tell him a damn thing and leave him waiting.

This article is a total mess from beginning to end! It doesn't even make sense

Hug your mom from me
Moving from place to place is really exciting It's a little bit of a disaster, but it's real fun

Well, moving amid album writing/recording sounds sketchy to say the last but then again it's Adele so you never know with her. She better have some killer tracks on the album if she can afford to ditch a "great" track with Phil Collins! #InAdeleWeTrust
